Needles...

Do you like them or not?

arista 06-03-2014 02:54 PM

If its needed at the Doctors
you can look away
not a problem

Niamh. 06-03-2014 02:54 PM

Does anyone really "like" them  They never overly bothered me really until I had one bad experience while getting a blood test a few years ago, now I'm a little bit more nervous about them

bbfan1991 06-03-2014 02:56 PM

I like them:blush:, scared at first when I was younger but I got used to them.

I must be a sucker for punishment!:laugh2:

I don't "like" them  but they don't bother me, find it quite fascinating to watch my blood be taken. I had a junior doctor take my blood while I was in hospital in December and he was terrible, he missed the vein so many times, he kept apologising and promising me he knew what he was doing :joker: he laughed it off though so I didn't mind

Vanessa 06-03-2014 03:01 PM

I'm scared of them. :bawling:

Kazanne 06-03-2014 03:02 PM

They don't bother me,would rather a needle than a thumb prick.

Natalie. 06-03-2014 03:12 PM

I'm not scared of them

Josy 06-03-2014 03:13 PM

I can't look at the point of a needle without feeling queasy not sure if there's a name for that but I can go get blood taken etc no problem as long as I look away

AnnieK 06-03-2014 03:15 PM

I have terrible veins and its very rare that I can have blood taken from my arms - they usually go for my hands although one nurse had to go behind my knee once which was pretty painful. I had to inject myself twice a day for 6 weeks a few years ago and that wasn't the most pleasant experience.

I'm not scared, I just know its going to be a hassle.

Livia 06-03-2014 03:17 PM

That's horrible Annie... Especially, for some reason, having it taken from behind your knee. Not sure how I'd be injecting myself either.

I'm not really bothered about needles, but for some reason I bruise like a peach after a blood test or injection.

I do as well but I swear I never saw anything like the way Gavs arm went after he got a blood test last time, his arm was bruised from his wrist up to halfway between his elbow and shoulder, it was horrific, he went back to the doctor and all after a week and the Doctor says, ah yeah that's normal

That sounds like they collapsed his vein.

Vanessa 06-03-2014 03:22 PM

My oldest nephew is even more scared than me. He needs to have some injections, but he's refusing to go.

Livia 06-03-2014 03:25 PM

Niamh, you've got to stop twisting Gav's arm up his back.

The 80s for me were one big needle

Crimson Dynamo 06-03-2014 04:00 PM

man

smudgie 06-03-2014 05:48 PM

Nope.
Just as well as I have to inject twice a day into my stomache, and prick my finger as well.
Don't like if when I get a gusher though, or I inject into the wrong place and have to rub it until the lump goes.

Kate! 06-03-2014 06:14 PM

Don't like them much but I'm ok if I look away. When I give blood my arms at my side so is don't see anything, and it's only like a scratch.
