quite amazed how it's only been the last year selfies have been a big deal when they've been around for years and years and years

I wonder what the diagnosis was?

Vicky. 24-03-2014 10:08 PM

Erm..will be honest and say when I heard about this my first thoughts were along the lines of what a vain ****ing attention seeking idiot

But I realise now he must have mental issues. Should be being treated, not spread all over the papers...

..he's a really good looking young guy but that's obviously not what he sees with his disorder...very sad but commendable that he's helping others...

Nedusa 25-03-2014 06:04 AM

I hope he got it on camera.

That's the sort of behaviour a person with BDD might go through. Very few get help though because as evidenced on here, the immediate thought of people is 'oh that person is vain'.

..I read that's what he has and is talking about it all to help others with the same disorder...

Good on him. It affects up to 2% of the population and most suffer in silence for fear of being disregarded as vain and pathetic. I'm on one of the most incapacitated spectrums of this disorder, I sympathise with this lad greatly and I'm glad he's put his head above the parapet.

..I agree with you, it's commendable that he's trying to help others and in doing that, laying himself open to personal criticism and scrutiny which does happen..it's always sad to see people unable/incapable of seeing what others see when they look in the mirror and must be an awful disorder to function with...
