My chicken and bacon sub

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...alal-meat.html

I know its a daily mail article, but it seems to be true.

Luckily its not affecting any stores up here yet as far as I know, but REMOVING THE BACON? This should be bloody criminal

Why remove ham and bacon though? Would it not be ok to just add halal options to the menu? That to me seems the best way, unless theres something that says that cant be done :/

Ninastar 30-04-2014 12:36 PM

i cant see that being true... i hope its not

-doesnt even like bacon-

Crimson Dynamo 30-04-2014 12:36 PM

I have never eaten there and i never will now

Vanessa 30-04-2014 12:36 PM

I need my bacon sarnies. :nono:

Ramsay 30-04-2014 12:41 PM

oh **** that

smudgie 30-04-2014 01:02 PM

Hmmmm, could be counter productive.

Some people don't agree with the way the animals are slaughtered re halal.

Providing halal meat in areas with a high muslim turnover is surely just an act of common sense by businesses to maximise their profits, it's got nothing to do with politics and I dont see anything wrong with it. All it literally means is a wider range of people are being catered for  the problem here is Subway alienating their non-Muslim customers by taking away bacon, the fault is fully on their part though it's got ***** all to do with Muslims. And anyway this has been going on for years so if it hasn't affected you already then it likely won't. People did look at the source right? It's just the Daily Mail running out of stories to write against Muslims

the article (obviously very briefly) mentions the meat has been stunned beforehand

Jessica. 30-04-2014 02:04 PM

I think they use turkey for all of the Subway meat in USA? I am sure I have heard that somewhere.

There aren't that many Muslims in my area but if my local subway decided to offer halal options it wouldn't really bother me as long as it still tastes nice. I don't think it's fair to blame Muslim people or even associate them with the change, it is clearly a decision Subway made to attract more customers. Also I thought they only have special ways of preparing livestock, is there a halal way of killing ALL animals? o.o

we should not be pandering to vile superstition in 2014. we should be educating brainwashed people not acquiescing to them

Thats why I asked if there was any reason that they would do that..like..can muslims not eat meat that has been near pork or anything. Seems not from this reply so its subway being twats for the sake of it:joker:

King Gizzard 30-04-2014 02:47 PM

This includes salami and stuff right? :( doubt it's here though..

And yeah, it would be typical Mail for them to make this up or exaggerate it

I used to be an aupair in Boston when I was younger and a girl who i was friends was an aupair for a Jewish family. They had a different set of dishes and cutlery etc for Dairy and meat because you're not supposed to mix the two, they had to wait a certain amount of time between eating the two also. She accidentally made a ham and cheese sandwich in the sandwich maker once

Jesus H Christ was Jewish. He wouldn't have eaten pork any more than I would. Am I brainwashed?

You are a Godless 'eathen Trumpet. It's one of the things I most admire about you.

Josy 30-04-2014 03:17 PM

I don't like Subway anyway but fail to see how alienating a section of their customers to keep another section of them happy will do any good, offer both options on the menu and keep everyone happy

Jessica. 30-04-2014 03:50 PM

they are still going to offer bacon and ham but it will be turkey bacon and turkey ham o.o

It's not bacon or ham then is it

InOne 30-04-2014 04:10 PM

I don't go in my Subway's because they're all Halal round here. If I want a ham I want ham, not turkey ham which is the replacement.

god, it's just business. supply & demand and nothing more to it. there are bars and restaurants in the UAE that serve alcohol and pork for tourists

subway have been doing this since 2007 and around 90% of stores still serve bacon. this is all a storm in a tea cup and nothing else
