waits for inevitable downward spiral of group, the split and then the badness

user104658 28-05-2014 08:33 AM

Their fan base is growing up, therefore, they need to be less squeaky clean to keep the girls interested. They need an edge. 13 year old girls will follow a clean cut, family fun boy band. 17 year old girls will not be interested.

Verdict: deliberate "leak".

Kazanne 28-05-2014 09:11 AM

Don't we all do things like this ,it's part of growing up,people drink, smoke have sex willy()nilly, seems a bit desperate to me from the press.

For me, it is a storm in a teacup Kazanne, nothing in the celebrity world should surprise anyone anymore or be any big deal,it is a totally different world to be in.

I actually find the endless marriages and divorces and the tossing around of Children's feelings as to new 'step parents' as irritating as some drug use may be.

Quite frankly it would have likely more surprised me had some, or even all, of One Direction not had some involvement as to drug use.

But the record Label wants
the 13 year olds buying
and the 17 - 30 year olds.

Its a Massive amount of Money
Simon Cowell set that all up

Vanessa 28-05-2014 09:56 AM

I heard Simon is furious about this. I think it could be a problem, because they're off to the States next and they could be denied a visa.

Josy 28-05-2014 09:57 AM

Arista we already had a thread btw, James closed it

it's front page news. i think their fans will defend them, but their parents will not like this at all.

Nedusa 28-05-2014 10:05 AM

A picture of someone smoking is not proof as to what they were smoking, it could just be a roll up with herbal tobacco for all we know.

it's not so much the video, but what they say in it. americans won't like this. it could affect album sales and their tour.

R.I.P One Direction's Career - Zayn and Louis caught smoking drugs

Quote:

One Direction fans turned on the band and each other today after a video emerged showing two members sharing a roll-up 'joint' on the Latin America leg of their world tour.
The MailOnline exclusive footage of Zayn Malik, 21, smoking and joking about marijuana with Louis Tomlinson, 22, has led to several 'Directioners' ripping up, burning or selling their tickets for the upcoming gigs in the UK, Europe and America.
Some have demanded the two members apologise for their actions because they are 'role models with a young fan base'.
But others have said they 'still love' the band and accused critics of not being 'true fans'.

http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...age003_png.jpg
http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2014/...354_634x94.jpg

In the footage seen by MailOnline, band member Louis Tomlinson, 22, narrates from behind the camera, laughingly announcing, ‘So here we are, leaving Peru. Joint lit. Happy days!’
‘What do you think about that kind of content?’ he asks bandmate Zayn Malik, 21, who is alongside him in the SUV ferrying them to Peru’s Estadio Nacional in Lima where One Direction performed to a 40,000 capacity crowd on April 27 as part of their 'Where We Are' tour.
‘Very controversial,’ Zayn responds.

During the 15-minute journey Louis and Zayn joke with each other and the three members of their team travelling with them. Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Niall Horan, all 20, are not in the car but presumably elsewhere in the band’s convoy making its way through the streets.
Louis starts filming while the team prepare to leave. Overhearing discussions between what appears to be a member of the band’s security and the driver he says with delight, ‘It’s about the joint. What a great thing to capture in a different language. They were just asking if it’s okay.’
A member of the team asks about the filming: ‘Are we allowed to talk contraband in this?’
Louis replies: 'Yes, that's what it is about.'

The video is likely to shock the parents of their many millions of young fans. It could also damage the plans of Simon Cowell to build on their huge American success and grow the band to superstar status - with the two members caught on film now facing the possibility of being barred from entering the U.S., where they are due to tour over the summer.
The band has just returned from South America and is due to play the Stadium of Light in Sunderland, UK, this evening, before touring the UK and Europe.
They are then scheduled to head back over the Atlantic to Canada and North America in August, although with allegations of illegal drug taking, they could be banned from entering.
According to Peruvian law, possession of marijuana is not punishable if used for personal and immediate consumption in quantities not exceeding eight grams.

U.S. authorities are far stricter, however, and notoriously barred Nigella Lawson from entering the country after she admitted drug use during a court trial last year.
One Direction topped the U.S. Box Office last summer with their film ‘This Is Us,’ which followed them on a previous tour.
Asked by journalists why there was no footage of any 'sex, drugs and rock 'n' roll' normally associated with pop stars, Louis said: ‘We like to think we're rock and roll, but we're not really.’
A spokesman for One Direction tonight told MailOnline: 'The matter is now in the hands of our lawyers'.
