If fat cow Dee wins,I,m never watching big brother again

punters are reportedly putting a load on Dee to win, according to bookies.dont like the sound of that, the bookies are spoiling everything.

Pete. 10-09-2014 07:19 PM

Better than Gary

Liam- 10-09-2014 07:21 PM

The bookies finally come in handy! They know where it's at

Xtopher 10-09-2014 07:27 PM

She won't.

Jarrod 10-09-2014 07:28 PM

How incredibly rude of you to call her a fat cow.

ThriceShy 10-09-2014 07:28 PM

Erm.....what do the bookies have to do with this? they have absolutely no effect on the result whatsoever.

If Dee doesn't get enough votes then she won't win.

Unless the suggestion is that big gamblers are mass voting. If that is the case then the votes should be discounted. They definitely have the means of doing that.

Is it an inaccurate statement?

They don't have any way of discounting votes from people who place bets. They'd have to track down thousands of telephone numbers or app users.

i think the only way she will win is if she comes into diary room and says she is playing gary by making up with him. that would be classic - the actor being acted on. and by someone unemployed.

Kazanne 10-09-2014 07:36 PM

It would be a travesty if she won

Just because the bookies have a favourite, it doesn't mean that person will win lmao!

It has been amusing to watch the forums over the last 14 years, as people have no clue how bookmakers odds work. They get told year after year and yet still come on the following year saying the same things.

Here's a quick crash course for the uninitiated:

Bookmakers do not know who will win an event. They can make an educated guess and they set the initial odds in a book according to that guess. But they make the book in such a way that, in general, they won't lose. It is called an "over round" book. Any result winning should see a profit for the bookie.

Then, after the initial book is formed, the odds then shift according to the bets placed.

Here is an example. If I walked in ladbrokes tomorrow and put a £10,000 bet on Ricci to win at 50-1, then Ricci would immediately become the odds-on favourite, because making him favourite would be the only way the bookies could attempt to keep the book profitable.

It is a simplistic example but it is the fundamental point. The bookies know nothing. Just remember the night Ulrika won and the bookies had her to leave first.

It isn't an argument. I simply asked which part of the "fat cow" statement was wrong. You declared it was inaccurate.

So either you think Dee isn't fat or you think she isn't a cow. The fact you won't further elaborate on your position, speaks volumes.

Agree.

I don't like Dee myself. But throwing around remarks like "fat cow" is really rude.

Is there a rule here that we can't be rude to housemates?

Nope, I didn't say there was a rule. Just voicing my opinion.
