why do they want to know if you are gay/straight/bisexual

I think it's something to do with equality. To show they don't discriminate.

Surely the best way to show they don't discriminate would be to not ask the question at all? :laugh:

Some are not even allowed to ask for date of birth anymore to stop them being ageist. :laugh:

It's weird, some applications ask it, others don't.

I think it's just them being nosey tbh.

I never like filling in the sexuality bit. Who cares if you're gay, straight, bi etc.. it has no bearing on how you work. :laugh:

i sent a cv the other day and they gave me an interview but they want me to fill in an application i mean the bastards have already got my details and experience. i hate writting in caps

It's to do with equal ops monitoring. You don't have to answer it and they are not allowed by law to discriminate because of the answer you give but for equality and diversity a lot of bigger companies will ask that and ethnic origin but have to have a "prefer not to say" option

I always answer truthfully, maybe that's where I'm going wrong :joker:
