Prophet of Doom

I was wondering about an even more special user name in honour of Sticks 1000 posts.

How about:

Resident prophet of Doom
or
Doom-meister
or
Cyber warrior extraordinaire????

What do we all think???:hello::thumbs::hello:

peachy 24-02-2003 12:56 PM

Oh I definitely think our dear Sticks deserves a special title.

I think all the above are excellent and that Sticks should choose his favourite. :xyxwave:

I hadn't seen that Sticks was now 1,000 posts old before so here are my belated congratulations. Well done, old bean, and keep up the good work. The site would be a more boring place without the cemetary pictures, P&H vans, empty shampoo bottles, potatoes and all the other numerous oddball pictures and posts of yours which have graced this site over the years. Here's to Sticks, a true original.:xyxwave:

Talking of special titles . . . . . .

Congratulations to you, Peachy on reaching 500 posts! :hello: :hello: :hello:

You can now pick your very own user name - have a think and let us know what you'd like.

Sticks 24-02-2003 04:59 PM

Unfortunately due to European Message Board Directive No 76, sub paragraph 3 clause 5, with regards to harmonisation of poster identies I am requred to post as Sticks.

On the old C4 Reach Forum I used to post as Graeme, but due to this harmonisation directorate I was required to change to Sticks.

Remember the product remains the same, all that has changed is the name.

I think this is related to why we have snickers now instead of Marathon bars :bawling:

Is this some form of confectionery?

I'm not sure what you are referring to here, Sticks old chum. I never touch the stuff myself.

The sacrifices I have had to make to retain my sylph-like figure............

I still think Doom-meister suits you ..........

As for Peachy, 500 posts, took you long enough I must say, but you deserve a reward..............now what would you like???:conf:

Sticks 25-02-2003 04:23 PM

I occured to me that anyone under the age of 13 will have never known Marathon bars :bawling:

Why do we have to change the names of our products to fit in with Europe.

Does anyone still remember Opal Fruits ?

steve_o 25-02-2003 05:06 PM

Didn't they change the names to fit in with America.?

:spin:

Romantic Old Bird 25-02-2003 05:16 PM

yes, Steve it was to be in line with the good old USof A. Another step on the road to becoming the 51st state (or whatever number) or globalisation overall - n'est pas?

Mairi 25-02-2003 05:29 PM

I remember Marathons and Opal Fruits, Sticks.

Does anyone remember Spangles?

:wavey:

LEE 25-02-2003 05:45 PM

peachy 25-02-2003 06:13 PM

Spangles were my favourites too, Lee. Gosh, all of a sudden we keep finding things we have in common. :xyxwave:

Di2001 25-02-2003 06:22 PM

Can anyone remember "Pacers" - chewy green and white striped sweets?

And I think they were called "Texas" bars that I can remember having. They were a chewy nougaty bar covered in chocolate.

LEE 25-02-2003 06:46 PM

Can people see the Spangles pic I put up earlier? I could see it when I first posted it but now I can't and it is just a red cross.

I can see the piccie too, Lee. Thanks for posting it up. I loved acid drop Spangles, too. Yummy.

My personal favourites were:

Yummy, must try one again soon!

I didn't use the tradtional approach and bite the end off the hollow liquorice tube to suck the sherbert through. Although, it could give you quite a buzz......

I went for the slow burn and dipped and licked until it went all soggy and my face and hands were all brown and sticky......then, I used to nibble the liquorice and just when you thought it couldn't get any better, you still had the sherbert to knock back!!:hello::thumbs::thumbs::hello:

Can you imagine the mess though?

No wonder my mother despaired of me.

jbellemeg 25-02-2003 08:19 PM

I used to love spangles and Trebor Barley Sugar Sticks.
I wonder why they they got rid of them?
I know spangles did a special promotion a few years back but don't know if they are still on the market.

Space Dust - now that was fun!!

Mairi 26-02-2003 06:23 PM

There are so many sweets I remember from my childhood, most of which are no longer around:

Jap desserts, lucky tatties (these cost 2d and had either a halfpenny or a lucky charm wrapped in tissue paper inside them), liquorice straps, penny chews, floral gums, cherry lips. I could go on and on................... :spin2:
