I was just looking at a Babyliss one there, it looks quite decent and has good reviews on the Argos website but it's only £20 so I don't know if it will be any good

Yeah I'm done with GHD's now, I'm grudging the money they want for them now I'm a bit older  especially when you can get similar quality for a third of the price elsewhere.

My hairdresser uses straighteners to curl my hair, i've tried this method on my daughter and it works really well, it's all in the angle of the straightener.

I can curl mine perfect at one side with the straightener, it looks great but when it comes to the other side it's a mess

I have Nicky Clarke hairstraighters they were about 40.00 have had them for about 8 years, they are pretty good, oh I thought we had moved on to straighteners, if I were you I would try the Babyliss ones what have you got to lose?

Cherie 06-09-2015 09:34 AM

what about these pretty good reviews

Kizzy 06-09-2015 09:49 AM

Do you curl from root to tip or tip to root? the trick with straighteners is to start at the top and wind over the top of them for some and under for others, so the curls don't look uniform.

Josy 06-09-2015 12:45 PM

I don't straighten or curl from the root it's not good for volume

Josy 06-09-2015 12:47 PM

I ended up buying the babyliss ones, they were only 18.50 when I got to the store so I'm a bit wary.

Going to a bbq atm but will report back on the tongs when use them later on.

Josy 07-09-2015 07:49 AM

Thanks for the vid Kizzy

I tried the curling iron out last night, they do a really good curl on a lot heat setting but they dropped out pretty fast so I guess I will need to use more product on it when I want to style my hair that way (I don't like using a lot of products on my hair)

kirklancaster 07-09-2015 08:15 AM

This thread has been fascinating.

Josy 10-09-2015 07:21 AM

What hair products should I buy for using with these? any tips?

I really don't want my hair to be bogged down with hairspray though, I'm happy to use a little bit but what else could I use before tonging to make the curls hold?

michellehenninger 04-01-2017 09:45 PM

I have been using the karmin curling wand and works really well for my hair (Y)
