Is the universe infinite?

The universe is 13.8 Billion light years old.The universe is expanding,Not just the stars and planets and debris but space itself.Because of this expansion the observable universe is now 46 Billion light years.
Do you think there is anything beyond what we as humans can see?
If there is an end to it what do you think could be beyond?
Could it be a multiverse?Could there be an infinite number of universes?
If the universe is infinite then there are an infinite number our solar systems and our planet and of me,possibly all doing different things.Maybe this morning another me got up and robbed a post office etc...Same with infinite parrallel universes.
This boggles my tiny mind. What do you think?

Did you watch the latest episode of the Flash recently by any chance?

The Marvel superhero :nono:

They had a storyline in the episode I watched last night very similar to this about having an infinite number of Earths in different dimensions. Anything is possible I guess. Personally I think whatever the answer is, our minds couldn't deal with

Even at the speed of light that would not be possible. You'd have to travel for ATLEAST 13.8 billion years:laugh:

the truth 15-10-2015 11:46 AM

we will never truly know as we humans are too dumb to ever comprehend infinity....however we can have some find exploring all possibilities

Jessica. 15-10-2015 11:46 AM

Everything I've learned tells me that it's infinite, I was just thinking about this yesterday, it blows my mind.

Yes thats why the Lad will start at age 10.

These are New Faster Rockets
but it will take 40 light years for the lad
to Arrive on that 2nd Earth to meet their beings

No Scientists
have understood this

Maybe New Labour Voters
are not up to it

Livia 15-10-2015 12:02 PM

The greatest minds in the world have pondered this question... I'll wait till someone cleverer than I comes up with a feasible answer.

I like your ambition but.....

A light year is one year at light speed. If the second Earth is in a parrallel universe then the boy would have to reach the edge of our universe first which would take atleast 13.8 billion years(maybe more) travelling at the speed of light.Scientists don't think it is possible for anything to travel faster than that.
This boy only travelling for 40 light years would'nt even get outside our galaxy, let alone reach another one or get out of our universe.
This is the vastness of even the observable universe.
The only chance i see of a possibilty is a worm hole(if they even exist).

Kizzy 15-10-2015 12:08 PM

I just tried to imagine it... and my brain trickled out of my ear.

bots 15-10-2015 12:09 PM

the simple answer is that its infinite as far as we are concerned at the moment because distances are just so large it is infinite to our eyes. However if the universe was created in the first place it must be finite.

But how do you know you're not among the greatest minds in the world?
Imagine if the answer to this question that has baffled many great men and women was found right here on TIBB.

Or imagine if Whales knew the answer,We just need to try to communicate.

If you're told something often enough you usually believe it don't you?

On to a losing battle though sadly, most can't get their heads around paying 5p for a carrier bag, let alone contemplate the immensity of the universe NM

When it comes to questions like this and what happened before the big bang inevitably we are asking the wrong question
