Anonymous Declares War On ISIS

Anonymous has declared “war” on Isis, in response to the attacks in Paris that left over a hundred people dead.

Members of the online collective have posted a video threatening "cyber attacks" against Isis, which are thought to have directed the attacks. It continues the group’s work against the group, which began following the Charlie Hebdo attacks in January.

In a video posted soon after the attacks, a person claiming to represent the group warns members of Islamic State that it intends to hunt them down. It said that it would “unite humanity” in the operation, which it claimed would use hacking to weaken the group.

Anonymous vs Isis: Twitter has become a battleground
“Anonymous from all over the world will hunt you down,” said the voice in the video, which included footage of the group’s famous Guy Fawkes mask and was in French. “You should know that we will find you and we will not let you go.

“We will launch the biggest operation ever against you.

“Expect massive cyber attacks. War is declared. Get prepared.

“The French people are stronger than you and will come out of this atrocity even stronger.”

Why Pretty Girls flopped?

These are the kind of guys Isis would love to have on their side. They are experts in counter-security. Not random that most of them get paid big bucks to come over to the "legit" side to strengthen network securities.

Does anonymous ever actually get anything other than threatening videos done?

They are very good at what they do. (Not too sure if goods the right word here though)

I don't think a cyber war is going to stop Isis.

I don't think a cyber war is going to stop Isis.

But it could help to indicate most of there destinations.

Great, a bunch of faceless, nameless, unregulated cyber-vigilantes have declared war on IS. I feel all warm and safe already.

Pretty sure they'll work with some Intelligence people, if they are serious about helping.

Also pretty sure that any information will be a one way street. Security services won't be giving them anything.

Oh I agree. But they also have a sense of real pride about discovering exploits / tracing information, and I think that any help they can give will be less about ego, more about the collective good.

And yes, I am a bit of a nerd, but I actually *do* feel a tiny bit happier now they have shown their solidarity....

It can't hurt can it, the more that is known about them the better.

Livia 17-11-2015 09:34 PM

Let's hope they don't jeopardise anything that's already in place.

Cherie 17-11-2015 09:38 PM

Message understood you are not keen.

Kizzy 17-11-2015 09:40 PM

Why were they not already?...Come on anonymous get your fingers out!

*please don't hack me*

lostalex 17-11-2015 09:56 PM

wow, they took down some twitter accounts...

and did these idiot "hackers" that are probably 15 y/o virgins, ever think that maybe those twitter accounts were being monitored by the CIA, and FBI, and MI5 and other intelligence agencies, and actually by taking off those twitter accounts they have ****ed up serious investigations by the professionalss???

Seriously Livia? Do you really have such a massive boner for the military / intelligence services that you don't want anyone who doesn't fall under either of those headings to do anything at all to try to combat extremism?

Meh. My take on it is that the official powers-that-be have been trying to combat this middle eastern terrorist threat for decades now and have achieved precisely jack ****. Yes, before you start, they have obviously stopped many potential attacks before they happened, I appreciate that, but are we any closer to a solution? An end? No... We're further than ever, it's rising damp that's only getting worse and can only be painted over so many times.

So, I say let whoever wants to have a go, have a go at alternative methods. It may not work but that's irrelevant. What western governments and military forces are doing isn't working either .

Find that quite hard to believe tbh, there's a very strong and mutual loathing between hacktivists and the intelligence services

More so than between the intelligence services and ISIS though? Whatever peoples opinions of Anonymous, they probably could help a great deal, surely intelligence services will be able to recognise that?

are you actually so naive to think that our governments couldn't have just deleted every ISIS account if they wanted to? why do you think they leave them online???

Can you actually be that ignorant to the idea that actually the government MIGHT actually have a plan and if they thought taking every ISIS sympathizer off of twitter would help us, they already would have done so by now.

Anonymous are angry little fat gamer gate boys. and they are doing NOTHING to make the world a safer place. They are arrogant sociopathic losers.
