What do you expect them to do?

Marsh. 29-05-2016 10:00 PM

What do you want? A bulletin on the BBC News at Ten?

The show is a much smaller cultish show now.

zakman440 29-05-2016 10:01 PM

Yes tbh. I've barely seen the ad on Channel 5 & they missed out on a huge opportunity to advertise during the BGT Final. Plus, if you compare it to the extent that ITV2 are promoting Love Island (ads in every break, a countdown in the corner of every programme, a strap at the end of the programme with a live countdown, break bumpers + heavy online promotion), Channel 5 could do a lot better.

(Also, I'm pretty sure Love Island sponsored a competition on Capital Breakfast...?)

True but Love Island will flop harder than Big Brother. I think the reason Channel 5 don't advertise it is because I don't think they can justify the cost of marketing and advertising. 1M is good enough for them and yes ads could maybe bump them up to 1.5m/2m but I don't think that matters to them as they know they can keep it above 1M and that'll do. I wouldn't care if only 5 people watched it (I know that's not profitable) as long as it's on.

It's awful.

CBB in January was promoted in every c5 break including all the Viacom channels including MTV.

I've seen the ad once on 5

Amy Jade 29-05-2016 11:03 PM

I've seen it quite a lot on Channel 5 and MTV, are you sure some of you aren't missing it because it's so low key?

I've always got music channels on and I watch Gotham/Can't Pay/numerous docs and my family watch Neighbours and Home and Away whilst we eat dinner. And have only seen it once in all those times.

Jake. 29-05-2016 11:07 PM

no idea how people expected an ad during BGT

That would probably cost more than the house.

exactly lol

the costs for an advertising slot during shows like that are ridiculous

Denver 29-05-2016 11:26 PM

I cant at people expected them to plow millions of £s into each series with no returm well im glad you dont run businesses

*mazedsalv** 29-05-2016 11:49 PM

I def didn't expect a BGT final promo spot, too expensive, but at least a billboard or something.

Tbh, CBB11 promoted the series during Dancing On Ice when the series was already a week in, probably explains good figures for a poor series.

supertv247 30-05-2016 12:14 AM

Even for C5 and Big Brother, the promotion is terrible, again. For the amount of money they've put into this extension, you'd think they'd splash out on more advertising. CBB had much more. All they've actually done is get it trending on YouTube. It's not even highly promoted on it's own channel, just adverts every now and again! The BBUK Twitter should be tweeting at least every day too.
Obviously Love Island needs to bring viewers, much more desperately, hence the advertising. But BBUK a should definitely have near what they have. It's C5's biggest show. I mean, Love Island has a snapchat filter today... C5 aren't even considering anything like that!

Jack_ 30-05-2016 12:15 AM

And people still insist they care about the civilian series just as much as CBB!

A BB Snapchat filter would probably just be Rylan's teeth so it's for the best

Jordan. 30-05-2016 12:31 AM

I don't think any amount of promo is gonna get the public interested in the show again so w/e

T* 30-05-2016 01:05 AM

At least they did the YouTube thing
Even that's an improvement on last years

emmetmcl 30-05-2016 01:30 AM

I think what they really mess up on is not having the Big Brother theme in the adverts. As another poster said, the advert is low key. If they have that theme, that everyone knows, for only 3 seconds people will immediately think of Big Brother.

But we also have to remember, its a week or so to go. They'll surely advertise on MTV/Comedy Central/etc.

Samm 30-05-2016 02:14 AM

They don't usually advertise it till around a week to go for civilian BB anyways, i'm past caring about ratings anymore I just want a good series

This is true, even back in the peak ch4 days, I don't remember ever seeing much promo this long before the launch.

TomC 30-05-2016 09:57 AM

Surely things like Facebook and YT advertisement is what matters in this day and age. You know how many people actually sit through TV adverts?

chriskicks 30-05-2016 10:15 AM

hopefully we will be drip-fed some info this week and next week leading to the launch.

In the BB7 days didn't they start the countdown ads at about 30 days?
