Are pops gals (besides Rihanna & Adele) over?

Seems you can only top the chart with a dance track these days :worry:

Thoughts?

Rihanna is flopping just as bad of the rest of them?

Taylor isn't over, PI will cement gags after one underperforming era, knee is long over but keeps trying bless her, Katy will always have 8 year old to pander too

Cal. 04-09-2016 12:47 PM

Who the **** is gonna be bopping to Perfect Illusion

Cal. 04-09-2016 12:48 PM

How is Rihanna flopping she's had like 4 hits this year?

Cal. 04-09-2016 12:50 PM

Hmm Taylor and Katy aren't over either I agree.

The rest are

Hmm 2016 has seen the revival of pop thank goodness, it seemed like it was dying out in 2013/2014. Rihanna is still huge (#1 for 10 weeks in USA with Work + Too Good, TIWYCF and Needed Me smashing = flopping?) but she's gone more R&B, same with Beyoncé.

Gwen & Britney's albums have both performed well in the charts too + new pop acts like Ariana have been received well... don't think pop is dying out just yet. Praying for Gags' release, hope ARTPOP & C2C & acting break & farming haven't damaged her career too much

Katy's new stuff should do well too

Cal. 04-09-2016 12:56 PM

Oh wow Pete educated me I guess

Work and This is What You Came For? Neither of which are solo singles  when was the last time she had a solo hit?

She's had about half a dozen flops too, an album which's sales are dire for considering and a crap tour turnout

Needed Me:
US Billboard Hot 100 - 7
US Dance Club Songs (Billboard) - 1
US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs (Billboard) - 2
US Mainstream Top 40 (Billboard) - 16
US Rhythmic (Billboard) - 1

I don't feel like Rihanna is on the same level as the others mentioned either, hope gaga pulls through in a few days. I think Beyoncés releases are still going to be high on everyone's list for quite a while

Marsh. 04-09-2016 01:06 PM

If Rihanna doesn't ruin Bates Motel next year she may have a new fan. :smug:

I deleted the irrelevant charts, even then I'd hardly call needed me a hit, where did it chart in the UK?

....and thank you for proving my point I guess? A hit like work and only 600k pure sales in two of the biggest markets in the world

Tbf 100k is pretty poor for a big artist and the usa is massive so a big artist should easily sell over a million so 500k is quite low for america standards.

Cal. 04-09-2016 01:12 PM

Tinashe isn't over either. She's on top!

Liam- 04-09-2016 01:14 PM

Rihanna hasn't released anything decent since Diamonds so I'd say she's pretty much dead.

LukeB 04-09-2016 01:14 PM

Rihanna's last album sold
600k in the uk and over 1 million in the usa

She has had a big drop in sales with anti.

Dominic 04-09-2016 01:15 PM

Meghan Trainor has been dominating the charts in 2016, her album is already 20x Diamond and is predicted to win 49 Grammys. So no...

Cal. 04-09-2016 01:16 PM

Tinashe released Superlove.

An album that was released 4 years ago in a different sales climate and has been collecting sales over those 4 years?

Ross. 04-09-2016 01:18 PM

Dua Lipa's album will end all their careers anyway

But didn't she sell loads of copies that year? but anti has flopped this year like people call artpop a flop and that sold pretty much the same in a year as anti.
