Academically I have a first class BSc and a Distinction MSc.

Im not smart enough to be rich though :(

smudgie 23-03-2017 02:44 PM

Clever...it has so many meanings.
You can be very good academically and have absolutely no common sense.
You can have both, you can have neither, or you could have loads of common sense and savvy.
As long as you have enough to get you through and keep you happy it doesn't matter that much ( personal opinion)
I have enough to to get me through life so I am happy.

Not clever by university standards maybe but i watch a lot of documentaries and keep up with current affairs so I like to think Im not all thick. R.

Ninastar 23-03-2017 02:49 PM

absolutely not

thesheriff443 23-03-2017 02:53 PM

If you have google you are a genius, a lot of very clever people know vast amounts of information that has no use in life today.

This.

I'm not very book-smart but I know I'm more than capable of being so if I put in the effort. I'm probably more "clever" in certain situations and how well I cope with them. Such as decision making, being under pressure, etc.

Cherie 23-03-2017 03:35 PM

In some areas, I am and in some I'm not, like most people, everyone has something they are clever at, not just in the academic sense but making people laugh, or being a good cook, or being clever with money, the list is endless.

JerseyWins 23-03-2017 04:02 PM

I'm maybe clever when it comes to stupid things.

y.winter 23-03-2017 04:14 PM

Trying my best. It doesn't always work, but we live and we learn.

Withano 23-03-2017 04:15 PM

Without sounding like Sesame Street, I think pretty much everyone has a similar level of intelligence, its just that people choose to do different stuff with it. Depends how its being tested.

Withano 23-03-2017 04:19 PM

But if you disagree with me on any subject ever, ur probs dum tbh.

Would you consider letting me sponsor you for a parachute jump just without the parachute I think a lot of members would also like to sponser you.

Of course I'm joking by the way.

jennyjuniper 23-03-2017 05:49 PM

Donny from BBUS said it perfectly and it applies to me too.
'I'm probably a lot smarter than other people think I am, but not as smart as I think I am'.

user104658 23-03-2017 06:12 PM

I (obvz tbh) have above average intelligence and I would say I'm fairly knowledgeable in quite a few areas. I wouldn't say I'm "clever", though, I think that describes something else. As someone said above... if I was "clever", I'd be rich, and I'm sure as **** not that :joker:.

ebandit 23-03-2017 06:32 PM

...strange? that more than one member equates being clever with....

ability to accumulate wealth...................could it be cleverer to realise that wealth

can be a burden and not at all necesary

withano mentioned how does one judge? personal perception counts greater than any

test score...............................

i can only reflect on the huge expanse that i completely fail to understand

Grounded is six foot under grounded enough.

Very wise (is wise the same as clever? Am I stupid for asking that?) I think there are a lot of clever people without money and it takes a certain amount of smarts to be able to budget effectively / get by without having much / hold down more than one job etc, and you certainly get a lot of stupid wealthy people... a lot about becoming successful and rich is chance and good fortune, or having an idea, but intelligence and imagination are different.

Kizzy 23-03-2017 07:53 PM

There are differing types of intelligence, you can be academically gifted but emotionally retarded.

I have no ambition, never have, I think I've stood in my own way most of my life.

I don't think there's any one defining thing that makes someone clever (as much as we try to test and qualify), I think it's just that ^ learning from life experiences, people who do I'd say are clever and people who don't I'd say are stupid, and it's something that's relative to your own life so different for everyone, not really something that can be tested.
