Big Brother launches to it's lowest launch ratings ever, but beats Love Island

I don't think the "lowest launch ever" is significant tbh since that happens with every series now. I'm guessing the 8.30 start is what made it beat Love Island.

I don't think producers will care about anything other than if their figure is higher than LI's this year.

This. I think producers would've been crushed if LI rated better but it doesn't matter now that BB is on at 10 this series and LI is on at 9.

LukeB 06-06-2017 04:13 PM

What if Li beats BB tonight?

I can see the viewers going down because a lot of people are moaning about the people who had past tv experiences like the people from EOTB. the launch didn't go down that well.

MB. 06-06-2017 04:15 PM

I've seen more press for BB today (mainly articles along the lines of "who on earth still watches Big Brother?", but still), which makes a difference to pre-season when all I heard about was Love Island

They all moaned last year too and it turned into one of the most well received series in the end. The first two days are always bogged down by social media whining, with little to no punctuation.

Ratings are always going to go down year upon year I think because gradually people are stopping watching live TV. Most of my friends etc watch things on Netflix or catch up rather than actual TV.

Some of the days Li did beat Big Brother.

Jason. 06-06-2017 04:20 PM

How much of that is retained in tonight's show is what matters.

DanielM787 06-06-2017 04:21 PM

What matters is at least Big Brother still bet Love Island

AarynGriesfan 06-06-2017 06:12 PM

Not surprised that no one wants to see Raph on tv. :joker:

Now sure that beating Love Island launch is a matter worth being celebrated

Except series 1 (of the reboot) launched to 400k and now look at it.

Big Brother has been going far longer. LI is relatively new and people were saying how great the promotion was so for BB to still beat it is great imo

oop :fan:

I guess his comments about not liking uneducated people hurts since it can be about that racist homophobic scummy thing he has in his avi and his name

Love island has done incredible for itself, tripling it's ratings in just two years. But it is still new, and I'd think this series might be its peak. 18 years later and there will be no love island - bbuk has done incredible to last this long and still beat the 'hot young & new' TV show
