Me too Jaxie, it may give them the closure they need at last.

Kelvin mackensie for one needs to stand due to his lies in the sun. He needs to name the MP that urged him to run that headline and the pair face justice.

It was four years later that the then publicity-averse Kelvin MacKenzie went public for the first time about the calamitous decision to call Liverpudlians liars and thieves who preyed off the dying and dead.

"I regret Hillsborough," he said. "It was a fundamental mistake. The mistake was I believed what an MP said. It was a Tory MP. If he had not said it and the chief superintendent had not agreed with it, we would not have gone with it," he told the Commons national heritage committee in January, 1993.'

Do YOU have an opinion, or is the onus in SD now simply to fixate on my views while having none of your own?

I remember the day like it was yesterday.

At the time I didn't realise the scale of the disaster, and was going mad because Everton were playing in the other semi-final at the same time, and we were getting no reports of that game (no internet or sky sports in them days).

This was the eighties, and football hooligans was the norm then. I remember my dad was saying "Bloody Liverpool fans turning up without tickets caused this". How wrong he was.

Such a shame it took so long. Nothing will bring them back but justice is the next best thing.

the truth 28-06-2017 08:20 PM

finally a tiny drop of justice for these dreadfully incompetent dishonest people...maggie thatcher milk snatcher was at the heart f the lies of false propoganda of the sun...to think we gave that scumbag a state funeral?

Braden 28-06-2017 08:22 PM

I was emotional watching through some YouTube videos to do with the disaster earlier. I just hope the families are feeling a lot better about the situation at long last, despite the pain of losing their loved ones.

The entire thing was a tragedy waiting to happen. The crowds outside were getting crushed. There was nobody beyond the gates to guide fans towards the near empty stands. The stands themselves were lethal. The cages were deadly. The chief police officer had no experience of crowd control. The emergency services couldn't get to the dying because disability ramps blocked their entrance. The cover up was unforgivable and the health and safety regs were appalling.

There are many things that caused this tragedy.

Kizzy 28-06-2017 09:45 PM

It is tragedies like this, the Marchioness disaster, the Bradford City fire that are the catalyst for reform and regulation.

I cannot help but suspect that those ultimately responsible for Hillsborough will never be charged, the establishment can't be seen to be at fault.

I think your right. Ultimately the chief of police was responsible, regardless of him not having crowd control experience. If he wasn't up to the job, he had no business being there.
