Asda to charge 9p for a bag from this year

They are getting rid of the 5p carrier bags so you have to spend 9p for a bag for life :umm2:

Vicky. 05-02-2018 03:38 PM

I get the bags for life ones anyway tbh, the normal ones are crap.

I have a whole cupboard full of them and still forget to take them each time. So they are 'for life; in the sense that they will remain in my cupboard until I finally have a clear out, but not in the sense of 'buy once, use again and again'

GoldHeart 05-02-2018 03:38 PM

:joker::shocked: 9 bloody pence ?!!! . This is to put people off buying plastic carrier bags as we keep getting told how bad they are for the environment and blah blah.

Niamh. 05-02-2018 03:38 PM

9p for a bag for life? They're 75c here, think yourself lucky, it works though, you don't forget to bring bags in a hurry

Marches 05-02-2018 03:39 PM

Good thought

Underscore 05-02-2018 03:48 PM

Good.

Greg! 05-02-2018 03:53 PM

Good they're helping the environment. Tesco ones are 10p so I never forget a bag!

Denver 05-02-2018 04:03 PM

I'm one of those people who carries it all in my hands if possible

Crimson Dynamo 05-02-2018 04:05 PM

we have 4 bags that hook over the shopping trolley, colour coded and attach to each other with velcro. then you fill them as you go around (bleeping your own stuff with the gun) and then you just lift it into the back of the car

you have to have a system

thesheriff443 05-02-2018 04:22 PM

Tesco been only selling 10p bags for some time now

Jessica. 05-02-2018 04:26 PM

I haven't bought a carrier bag for years, we always use bags for life, we keep a few in the boot of the car and if I go shopping on my scooter I always use a backpack and have a spare bag under my seat. The handles of flimsy carrier bags hurt the skin on my hands anyway.

bots 05-02-2018 04:49 PM

if you get Asda home delivery, they charge a flat rate for bags, and without fail forget to bag it at least once in a 2 month period. Complain, and you get a voucher with a value that far exceeds the price of the bags for the 2 months .... easy really :smug:

BBUK-Fan 05-02-2018 04:50 PM

9p? No one will pay that exact amount so why not just 10p
