Toilet cubicle for muslims

Was using a recently built toilet block and in one cubicle they had ceramic shaped thing like a funny looking shower tray with a hole in the middle and a shower hose with a push button for running water.

Never seen this before in my life, have these been around in this country a long time? Or are they new.

I don't have an agenda with this thread just it's not been discussed on here before!?

Crimson Dynamo 13-04-2018 05:35 PM

how is it for muslims?

Beso 13-04-2018 05:37 PM

Probably for the chinese.

Oliver_W 13-04-2018 05:41 PM

I thought you were gonna say the cubicles had plastic mat down so they wouldn't get a staph infection when they kissed the ground during prayers.

pandering to any backward superstition is a way backwards. We should be trying to educate people who succumb to cults like this

Jack_ 13-04-2018 05:55 PM

Are you not just describing a bidet?

bots 13-04-2018 06:20 PM

that's a fairly common type of toilet in France

I saw some at Dubai Airport. Walked into one and wondered what the heck it was. I’m not sure if it was the Islamic version of a bidet or for washing feet - or both. Got out put pretty quick.

Yeah sounds like a bidet to me..not just for Muslims

Apparently my husband used to have one in his old house. posh bugger :D

They are not quite the same though - a bit like a hole in the ground that you either stand over or in. It felt very strange.

You actually squat over the hole and go to poo

If it’s for washing feet - ablution. It’s a big Muslim tradition.

no its a superstition and should be eradicated and not encouraged

There was one in the villa we stayed at a few years ago on holiday - daughter thought it was a little sink for kids :joker:.

Marsh. 13-04-2018 07:03 PM

Something unusual to this country + ceramic tiles = Muslim

Full squat is actually healthier than sitting on a toilet, it's how humans are "meant to" poop.

Also why if you're constipated, putting your feet up on a stool while sat on the toilet (so that knees point upwards) can help get things moving. Pro tip.

Don't know what you are talking about + nothing to add to the thread = marsh

Marsh. 13-04-2018 07:41 PM

There's nothing to add to a thread assuming something is Muslim because it has, and I quote, "ceramic tiles".

Maybe elaborate instead of opting to get personal, your default position, eh?

Withano 13-04-2018 07:42 PM

Its there for people who prefer to use it I suppose.

It is technically the easier way to physically go, and cleaning with a shower hose intead of paper is technically both cleaner and more environmentally friendly

I just prefer comfort and familiarity to technicalities!

Marsh. 13-04-2018 07:44 PM

Using more water must have some negative effect, aside from obviously easing up on the paper usage.

more water gets used creating a toilet roll, a shower hose after every visit uses less water. (One toilet roll needs 37 gallons of water)
