Big Brother 2018 'rescheduled'

According to the Daily Star (reliable, I know) bosses are still quietly deciding what to do about the upcoming series of Big Brother as they're considering launching it at the beginning of July in order to avoid love island overshadowing it

Anybody who works for this show is an absolute moron.

Greg! 08-05-2018 12:37 PM

Makes sense for them to wait until it's finished I suppose

MB. 08-05-2018 12:41 PM

Isn't this year's Love Island supposed to run for eight weeks though?

Eddie. 08-05-2018 12:55 PM

Maybe the BB19 launch could be a week or so after the LI finale...

Technically because the BBUK house lease ends in September, the latest they can launch BBUK and fit at least 50 days plus 25 days of CBB, is the first week of July. Love Island won’t end until then very end of July. So they can’t really wait until it’s completely finished, but they can wait as long as possible so until the hype has died down and so that it can run longer after LI ends

LukeB 08-05-2018 01:21 PM

Hayden has been saying this for months

because of the you have to be 18 by june/july or something

Rob! 08-05-2018 01:22 PM

I mean it makes sense to keep it out of the way of Love Island but I doubt it’s going to make that much difference tbh

Its just the same speculation we've seen on this and other forums, no source, and lots of mays, considerings and mights. Yes its a distinct possibility that BB will air later than usual this year so as not to clash with LI, especially given the lack of info released so far, but this article is nothing new to those of us that have been following the current BB saga, just a rehash of valid speculation on this and other forums.

Headie 08-05-2018 01:50 PM

Wow, I never saw this coming considering auditions only started a week ago and applicants only needing to be 18 by 31st July!!!

If they extend the planning application they can run CBB into October.

But that would depend on them accepting C5's half price format offer or on them finding a better broadcast partner.

Ant. 08-05-2018 06:21 PM

Why don't they just air Big Brother before/after LI? :suspect:

I know before would cause some issues with watershed but they've done it before. and I think evictions have to be done by 11pm but starting the evictions at 9:30pm would ensure that and allow LI and BB fans to still catch half highlights and the full eviction?

besides if they begin first half of July this would only be a compromise for a couple of weeks

Is there a flaw in this logic?

They did air it afterwards last year. It would make no difference whether it directly clashed or not - most viewers are only willing to invest in one 7+ week-long reality series per summer, which is a problem that BB have pretty much been backed into a corner on and can't do a great deal about, other than... like, airing it in October or something ridiculous

MB. 08-05-2018 06:25 PM

(at least, I seem to recall that it was on at 10pm and LI at 9 most nights?)

Babayaro. 08-05-2018 06:27 PM

They should revert back to the BB12 scheduling

thisisdanny 08-05-2018 08:44 PM

They'll probably mess things up again, wouldn't surprise me if they have the BB launch clash with the LI final or something

A lot of LI episodes were more than an hour long last series though, I rarely watched BB at 10 because of this. I always recorded it though and watched it as soon as LI finished which worked out better I suppose as I could fast forward through the adverts

Lol at them thinking its love islands fault for falling ratings

Marsh. 08-05-2018 09:47 PM

SHELVE IT!

Could potentially end up being LI’s fault for better ratings imo, since people are obsessed with love island and after that finishes a lot of viewers will want somewhere to go. BB would help withdrawal symtoms imo (providing it isn’t ****)
