Avertisers walk away from Potty Mouth Samantha Bee's show

https://e3.365dm.com/18/06/750x563/s...20180601102524

Just reported on CNN money HD
Advertisers are now walking away from
her show Full Frontal on USA channel TBS

https://news.sky.com/story/samantha-...trump-11391592

[S. Bee, 48, a former correspondent
on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart,
admitted to crossing a line
with the comment and said she regrets it.]

Meanwhile Ted Nugent calls Hillary the c-word and gets invited to the White House, and Trump calls a female reporter the c-word and becomes President

The fact that the White House are trying to equate this with Roseanne's racism (she also called Hillary the c-word, btw) is laughable

Oliver_W 01-06-2018 02:16 PM

Samantha Bee is just an unfunny wreck who doesn't deserve her "fame", but stupid comments which are completely in character for her don't really warrant the advertisers abandoning her.

Also the White House still not apologised for a very sick comment made about cancer sufferer John McCain.

White House doesn't apologize for aide's comment mocking McCain

Preach, the fact they are pushing this because of 'double standards' is ridiculous considering they don't seem to mind it when men they like call women *****.

It's a joke.

The "C" word is not like by Church Folk
and advertisers get messages from viewers
saying
that they must pull out from her show,
or they lose the product getting sold etc.

Its how long they stay away that is the Danger
to her comedy show.

Avoid the "C" word,
on TBS , USA.

This is progression, embrace it, it's 2018 after all.

Tom4784 01-06-2018 03:03 PM

Progression is not trying to undercut racism by shifting focus. That is sliding back, not going forward.

Rosanne has said that she didn't know that the woman was black and thought that she was white, so she didn't believe at the time that she was being racsist.

Does that change anything?

Tom4784 01-06-2018 03:09 PM

No, lies don't tend to change the facts.

bots 01-06-2018 03:17 PM

Forgetting for a moment people jumping on bandwagons, money talks with advertisers, nothing else, so clearly she directly detrimentally affected their bottom line.

If I saw a picture of Valerie Jarrett for the first time, I would think she was white too.

I don't believe there was intent of racism by Rosanne.

Oliver_W 01-06-2018 03:20 PM

To be fair I look blacker than Valerie Jarrett, and I'm fricken Snow White over here.

That's really not how it works

...so the Muslim Brotherhood (which Roseanne also compared her to) are all white as well, are they?

How what works?

Rosanne made a mistake (we've all made mistakes and we'll continue too) she immedietly apologised, give the woman a break and a bit of forgivness.

Valerie Jarrett has been a long term boogeyman for the insane American right. To say that Roseanne didn't know what she looked like is a flat out lie. She also called Susan Rice (another Obama appointed right wing target) an ape in 2013.

She compared Susan Rice to a man with big balls.

It isn't how ethnicity or race work; "she doesn't look completely black so Roseanne wasn't being racist"

Your idea of progression is fiction rather than fact!

Congratulations, you added nothing to the discussion.

I've never heard of this person in my entire life. Are they famous?...

Well... it's not the most insane comparison, is it ...

It could just be that Rosanne didn't realise the woman was black, so didn't know making the comparison could have racist implications.
