There can’t be many tv shows, reality or otherwise, which have lasted this long?

Many soaps have done that and more.

Yes soaps are the exception, probably the only genre that does consistently see most its shows last a long time.

RileyH 14-07-2018 11:21 AM

It's older than me

There are lots of others too. Type longest running tv shows and you can see the list.

In terms of reality TV however, there aren’t many that have done this.

There are examples yes of course lol but most television shows can’t expect to still be on air almost twenty years later, they’ll often die out by around season 1-9.

Very true. There many tv shows nowadays that get cancelled after 1 season, before the 1st season has ended and sometimes even before it has even aired on tv. Nowadays getting to season 5 is a major accomplishment.

BB was lucky because it started when TV was still cool and not as declining as it is now. Had BB only just started now or few years ago, i do not think it would have lasted long.

Apparently it's the 49th longest running UK tv show

Jack_ 14-07-2018 12:41 PM

Sad that IAC is probably gonna end up being the longest running UK reality show

y.winter 14-07-2018 12:54 PM

It'll probably be the longest British reality TV show, in number of series (whole franchise including CBB), number of broadcasting days and hours.
I believe they won't make Utopia UK, so it'll stay that way forever.
