Jacob Rees-Mogg issues style guide to staff!

https://news.images.itv.com/image/fi...stream_img.jpg The new Leader of the House of Commons Jacob Rees-Mogg has instructed all staff in his new office to use imperial measurements and refer to ‘non-titled males’ as ‘esquire’. Issuing a style guide in the first week of his job, he also bans colleagues from using various words in correspondence with other MPs and the public. Among the list of bizarre rules, he asks staff not to use the words “got”, “very” or “equal”. https://news.images.itv.com/image/fi...stream_img.jpg Nicknamed the ‘Honourable Member for the 18th Century', Mr Rees-Mogg is known for his formal dress and love of tradition. In a long list of dos and don’ts, he also asks that all MPs are addressed with the title Esq after their name and tells staff “CHECK your work”. The EU has issued several directives over the decades asking member states to use metric measurements. The UK has been a late adopter of the system, continuing to use miles rather than kilometres on road signs, for example. Mr Rees-Mogg makes clear he would prefer staff to always use imperial measurements, most of which were phased out from the mid-1960s. https://www.itv.com/news/2019-07-26/...uide-to-staff/ :clap1: educate the riff-raff |

Fair enough the first list is basic grammar, people should be aware of. That list of banned words is just ridiculous.
Banned "Invest" (in schools etc) The irony is too much. :joker: |

Did Nigels slot on LBC tonight. One of the few politicians who will deal direct with the GBP with no safety net. Top man and excellent politician and businessman

Does MP stand for “massive prick” in his case

Hopefully, its not an ongoing situation, that would be unacceptable. I guess we will ascertain that very soon, but I wouldnt want to speculate.

"Esquire" sounds like "is queer" so you can stealthily insult people 8-)
I like Esquire, it's a bit old fashioned but you can say it at the end of someone's full name instead of prefacing it with "mister" |
If there is one person who knows all about style its Rees-Mogg
