Cremation
What’s your opinion on cremation?
Does it happen in your family Do you plan to go up in smoke What about keeping the ashes or spreading them. |
It's cheaper.
|
Both my parents were cremated and I plan to be also.
I would like my ashes scattered. |
Grave yards are such a waste of space, instead of graveyards they should bury ashes and plant a tree over it as a memorial, that way we're giving back to the environment whilst also having graves of sorts for people to visit
|
Leave the land for the living, but it really is down to personal taste.
We are a cremation family, dad is still in the wardrobe. My brother-in-law is normally in sister’s airing cupboard as he liked the warmth. |
The TL's mum is in the house somewhere in a pot. We live next to a crematorium and sometimes when the wind blows from the East the dust goes on the sheets on the line!.

Cremation for me, I do not want to go in a hole in the ground
although I will say it is nice to have a grave to visit at the same time, I get comfort from visiting my Mum and Dads and looking after it is a tribute to them |

living next to a crematorium, ew i have nothing against crematoriums but living next to it isn't really a dream environment to live in  |
I hate the idea of being burned, in the ground or thrown in the sea
I’d rather just be discarded in a bush or something |

Most of my family, the ones who didn't come here 70 years ago, are buried in the Jewish cemetery in East Ham. Cremation is acceptable to Jews these days, obviously I don't refer to Orthodox Jews who believe cremation is a sin. However, a generation of Jews have turned away from it because of the Nazi cremations. My grandmother doesn't want to be cremated for that reason.
Personally I would have no problem with being cremated. I believe you leave your body when you die like you would get out of a clapped out car. |
Mixture in my family.
My Grandparents are all buried and I respectfully go to their graves. Often taking their younger descendants to it too. One of them only 4 calls it Grandma and Granddad's park. I'd prefer burial myself but I'm not bothered either way. I don't like the idea of spreading ashes. It sounds daft as the individual is gone obviously but why I don't, is thinking of bits of the person all over the place. Keeping the ashes, I understand that and like the idea of when one partner dies and is cremated, keeping them until the other goes and then putting both together. Then burying them. |
Mixed. Some are buried, some are cremated. Just personal preference.
|
Undecided bc the buried body provides more nutrients to environment
If get buried then in one of those eco burial parks or whatever they are called |
