My opinion on it is if you want to give to charity just do it but don't pretend it's a bloody present to someone else.

I know a person who bought their child that as a Christmas present one year...nothing else

can you imagine the amazon delivery driver telling he hasnt got your ps5 as Amazon spent the money on a Bolivian clean water pump instead for you

...we have done something similar at work quite a few times for our Secret Santa...rather than buy and give to each other, we’ve bought items to make up hampers for the local food bank...

If someone gifted me a charity donation to an environmental or animal cause in the UK, I'd like it. But something like the one in the uk? Nope.

At this point I'd prefer someone do something like this for me than spend money on something I could buy for myself.

I prefer to give presents to those I want to AND donate to charities too.
Not instead of.

i would welcome the gift of a goat if anyone wants to donate one to me. I need a new cheap gardener
