Ultimate battle of the cities (Liverpool, London or Manchester?)

As it says in the title. This isn’t the first thread about this but opinions change and 2020’s probably changed a lot in many ways.

I adore Liverpool. A lot of my family are from there. A lot of my wifes family are from manchester too but I prefer Liverpool!

I voted Liverpool as London and Manchester are awful

well the nice parts of London like Richmond and HIghgate are ok but the rest is a toilet and just too full of people/ traffic.

I like all 3.

However I voted Manchester.
I've always loved everytime I've been there.

I’ve only been to London twice so can’t really judge fairly cos I didn’t get to see/do everything. Liverpool is a much, much better city than Manchester though.

Manchester has you there AnnieK.
That's one big plus for it for a start.

Liverpool > London > Manchester

Hmmm I lived in Lancs for a few years and I don't like Manchester :umm2:. I've never been to Liverpool.

London... Hmmm... Is a great place to visit but I could never live there. It is just too busy/polluted/overpopulated. However for things like restaurants/facilities/the west end, obviously it is a world-class city.

So yeah. London to visit for a few days, have a few meals and see a few shows.

Then back to the fresh air to breathe :joker:.

Redway 18-12-2020 08:27 AM

You should visit Liverpool one of these days TS.

I agree, London always had a special place in my heart because I lived there for a couple of years when i was younger but I went to Liverpool 2 years ago for a weekend and I just fell in love with the place. I was in Manchester a few years back for a Hen weekend and I wanted to love it because Oasis are from there and I love the accent but I just couldn't warm to the place at all

I totally feel you on the Manchester thing Niamh. It can’t be doubted that it’s got more going for it than Liverpool on the economic front but Liverpool feels special somehow (in a way). It’s not somewhere I’d want to go back to in a hurry or live for any more years than I did but if the circumstances were different its position as the second London of the U.K. would’ve shone through a lot more.

Nickys vote should be cancelled as he doesn't know what Manchester is really like, so it's 8,5,7 :smug:

Maybe we could all explain WHY ??

It’s pointless stating that Manchester is better than London or the opposite without justification...

Why? (Thread-bump.)

Liverpool’s nichely-beautiful, home to some-of the oldest established communities and there’s a slice of every side of life in the city but in terms of the latter London generally just has more. Rochdale’s pretty okay though (and anywhere that produces a show as great as Waterloo Road was has to be given credit).

Manchester has MediaCity, Corrie and decent shops (all of-which I really like) but the atmosphere of the city in general is just a bit grim and toxic for me.

Birmingham.

Seriously though I'd probably pick London because it seems to have most things in the country.
