Scottish Shellfish lorries park near Downing Street

[Lorries used to transport British shellfish have
parked on the roads near Downing Street after
experiencing delays getting into the EU
due to new Brexit rules.
At least 10 lorries were parked up,
with one carrying the slogan "Brexit Carnage"
as shellfish companies protested
against severe delays transporting
their produce to the EU following
a change in rules.
Police were asking the drivers for their details.
Many Scottish and Welsh fishermen have been
unable to export their stocks to Europe since
the start of the year after the introduction
of catch certificates, health checks and customs
declarations have meant
lengthy delays getting into the EU.]

The Government must
help their Scottish offices to get
the new paperwork sorted.

Yup, dump that rotten seafood on the laps of the incompetent politicians, if they can't get Brexit done quickly and efficiently they deserve to be swimming in ****.

Seems like those who voted for Brexit wanted to be able to have control over their own borders but expect to have no changes at all to them entering other countries..........

Tell the fishermen with stock they can't shift how successful it is

Pretending the government are currently making a success of it is as stupid and petty as saying "this is what you voted for"

bots 18-01-2021 10:42 AM

if we had remained in the customs union, this wouldn't have been a problem, but the fishing industry was strongly against that. So, honestly, this is what they wanted, and now they have it

Exactly

Crimson Dynamo 18-01-2021 11:06 AM

The seafood industry has warned fishing businesses could collapse within days, but Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab on Sunday said the delays were just "teething problems".

He told the BBC he was "not convinced" the delays were because of the government's trade deal with the EU and argued it will "create huge, sustainable opportunities" for the sector.

Last Wednesday, Prime Minister Boris Johnson told a committee of MPs that fishing businesses would be compensated for what he described as "temporary frustrations".

People voted for this, they voted for the chaos they were warned about and ignored because it didn't align with the cosy rainbow future the Brexit politicians promised. Fools, the lot of them.

Everything that happens now is on the heads of the voters that enabled it to happen. People wanted this, and they'll have it.

Ahem, they are Scottish lorries and we did not - we voted against this by a significant margin.

user104658 18-01-2021 11:44 AM

I hope the shellfish starts to rot and they dump the whole lot on Boris' doorstep.

This is true

I hope they have their parking Hake on?

The Slim Reaper 18-01-2021 01:21 PM

Brexit itself used cod-psychology to trick people into believing in English exceptionalism, so I guess it's come full circle.
