Today joe biden was filling food parcels.

'He was doing something good, but I don't like it, so i'm gonna undermine it by throwing hollow insinuations about!'

He was slowing the whole process down for the sake of a photo opportunity, something Obama's irish roots led him to do as well.

Something we all have to get used to again I suppose.

arista 19-01-2021 10:16 PM

Only to make him look good.

Crimson Dynamo 19-01-2021 10:26 PM

More embarrassing than musing in front of the world's media about injecting disinfectant to get rid of covid?

user104658 20-01-2021 09:10 AM

"Politician in photo opportunity SHOCK"

I mean... I agree to an extent that he's there in person for the benefit of the press and not because he's an expert box packer but... it's good for stuff like this to be in the press and they need a picture to illustrate. The good press that comes with it is positive both for his image AND for what they are doing, it's quid pro quo, he's not "slowing anything down" to any great extent that isn't heavily outweighed by the positive exposure (for both parties) so what's the problem?

yes Bolsonaro looking at you, you gone would make brazil great again (sorry for the pun at the end couldn't resist)

Ammi 20-01-2021 09:26 AM

...he was urging people to help out in any way they could and that always carries more weight if seen helping, himself...it may have been a photo opportunity but it was highlighting a positive aspect of essential community thoughtfulness in the care of others...and the US media attention has been so negative and controversial of late, it’s surely important to show that nation of great people ...

Ammi 20-01-2021 09:29 AM

...I mean, it people can get so ‘ughhhh’ about things like this when the important thing is, if it inspires/sparks people to look around their communities at what they can also do and to help ...

He is never going to please everyone, for example, i wasn't overly impressed at him getting emotional during his speech, but others will think thats a good thing and a refreshing change from Trump

I think he deserves at least 6-12 months to see how he is doing before anyone gets too harsh toward him. Whatever he does, it will never be as bad as the last 4 years of a Trump administration

You don't have to bit I find it strange that you feel that someone aiding the preparation of food parcels is genuinely embarrassing during a pandemic (albeit for a photo opportunity) but I do not remember similar outrage at Trump. Weird, that's all and as this is a forum to add your thoughts on a thread, I added mine. I didn't realise that in this thread you had to only comment one thing. My bad

There's **** brewing on the China/Pakistan/India border and I strongly suspect if there's drama, people are going to pin that on something Biden has caused/done, when it's been bubbling away for at least the final year of the Trump administration but gone massively under the radar due to Covid and the Prez Elections dominating the news. Not that I'm saying it's a Trump problem either - just that it's been brewing all on it's own but you can bet that Trump supporters will go with a "SEE! DEMOCRATS ARE WARMONGERS!!" narrative.

A photo opportunity...thats all it is. They should be ashamed. He wouldnt be doing it otherwise...

But that's the same for any Politician, celeb or Royal. You really think Boris would have been on a farm, in a covid vaccine centre etc etc if it wasn't for the photo op? It highlights the work these places are doing, why should he feel shame for that?

Paying a visit to these places and highlighting what they are doing is great...but when he or any other politician/Royal start rolling up their sleeves and getting stuck in for 2 minutes almost mocks the hard work they are doing...and its all for the sake of boosting their profile.
Visit and highlight...but leave the work to the real workers who work at it day and night.
