Had some tragic news today.

Today I found out that my friends husband has gone on to palliative care. He has been living with cancer for 2 years and the chemo was working but the cancer was very aggressive and came back and treatment is not working anymore.

I don't know how long he has left but I'm surmising it won't be that long. The family are devastated. I'm here for her but at the moment she doesn't want to talk which is understandable.

Life really isn't fair at times I guess. Xx

...I’m so, so sorry, Kate...for your friend’s loss and also how helpless I know that you’re feeling right now...but you are helping by being there if and when she needs you to be...there can’t ever be any words you can say ...but when she’s ready, she knows that you’re there.....

AnnieK 17-02-2021 07:22 PM

Sad news....she will reach out when she's ready I'm sure. At the moment all her time and energy will be on him. Xx

Ammi 17-02-2021 07:25 PM

...I doubt she’ll even hear words, let alone be able to speak any...she’ll have no awareness at all and be totally stunned...but I know how hard it is for you as well, Kate...to know that someone you love is in so much pain and be helpless to it.....

Oh Kate i am so sorry at your dreadful news , all you can do is be there to support her ~ which is very difficult in these times but a good chat with someone who understands can be a lifeline . She probably needs time to take it onboard before shes ready to talk. All you can do is be there to give her the strength to get though.

Well if you ever need to chat kate, just remember you have many kind people on here that will listen.

Steve sounds like a great guy. A guy with a great wife, that's your good friend.

If she just doesn't want to talk and you live close enough to her you could just post short heartfelt msgs through her letterbox....She will then know that when she is ready to talk you will always be there for her.

LaLaLand 25-03-2021 03:53 PM

Thanks.

Unsure as to whether I'll be able to go to the funeral or not with restrictions?
