Leftist Woke Squad OUTRAGED Over Bill Burr Jokes at 2021 Grammys

Bill Burr has been receiving backlash following his appearance at the 2021
Grammy Awards. Here’s a look at why he was cancelled and the drama that
unfolded.
  1. The comedian presented Best Regional Mexican Music at Sunday's Grammys
  2. He struggled to pronounce the name of the winner Natalia Lafourcade
  3. Burr joked feminists would hate a 'cis-white male doing all this Latino stuff'
  4. The stand-up also commented he wanted to 'kill himself' after a piano solo

2021 Grammy Awards has been in the center of controversy weeks before the
show aired. Amid this, Bill has been receiving a lot of heat after his appearance
during the award show. Fans have been calling out the comedian for saying
some problematic statements. Here’s a look at what he said.

WHY IS BILL BURR CANCELLED?

Bill was chosen as the presenter for various categories in the award show. He
decided to joke about the lockdown and went on to present the Best
Regional Mexican Music Award.

Singer Natalia Lafourcad had won in this category, but Bill found it hard to
pronounce her last name. “I can’t say this name. And the Grammy goes to
Natalia Lafourcade. I will accept on behalf of her. If I butchered her name,
I’m sorry. Natalia, you won. That’s it,” he said.

The comedian went on to call for trouble once again while presenting the
Best Tropical Latin Album category. Before announcing the winner he joked,
“The feminists are going nuts, ‘Why is this cis-white male doing all this
Latino stuff.'”

The woke squad’s fingers are bleeding it seems, are they not bored of attacking people for the 80 genders. Next they’re gonna start assigning their pets one of these genders

Why would feminists be his first thoughts about who would be outraged at something that could be considered more a race thing than a woman thing? :suspect:

user104658 16-03-2021 11:25 AM

Well I'm in a bizarre halfway situation here where I would happily see Bill Burr fired into the sun but at the same time - and god ****ing damn this for being true - I agreed with more than half of that YouTube video :bawling:. He's really difficult to listen to, don't get me wrong, and I question his motives :suspect: but much of the actual content I just can't argue against.

But then I find myself in this political no-man's land an awful lot these days. I'm not a white gammon conservative, but I'm sure as **** not a current-wave progressive either.

Politically homeless and surrounded by extremists and dogma. I assume a lot of people find themselves here, and it suxxx.

Niamh. 16-03-2021 11:34 AM

Yeah loads of people feel that way at the moment TS, I read it online all the time, I feel the same

Nicky91 16-03-2021 12:21 PM

how unsurprising, comedians getting more criticism these recent times than few decades ago

Crimson Dynamo 16-03-2021 12:23 PM

well he did nothing wrong apart from mispronounce a tricky name and the dance routine in Ben's video is repulsive and unoriginal

and harry styles looked like a total try-hard dick

Tom4784 16-03-2021 12:27 PM

So a Ben Shapiro video and a handful of random tweets constitutes an 'outrage', okay.

Jordan. 16-03-2021 12:37 PM

would never have even heard about this if the right didn't get themselves in a dizzy over a bunch of teenagers tweets.

Yup, a manufactured outrage for the purpose of giving right wingers a reason to grumble about the left wing. It's embarassing really, having to invent situations to be mad about but that's what right wing media is all about.

he hasn't actually been "cancelled" though, has he? I mean he's always been controversial, that's his thing, isn't it? He's been around a while

Tom4784 16-03-2021 12:44 PM

Again, more examples of media taking a few tweets and spinning it into a story and the gullible right wing will eat it up.

Incredibly so, gullible people provide clicks and the right wing's penchant for ignoring reality in favour of a more pleasing fiction is a goldmine. Look at the Russell Brand/Jonathan Ross situation from years ago, that was a broadcast that didn't create much of a backlash when it aired, only when the media reported on it in a way that inflamed the situation to what it became, they basically created a whole storyline from it except things are worse now, since you only need one or two tweets to be like 'Crazy leftists are outraged! Look at this tweet saying so from a person with 4 followers and no likes or retweets on the tweet in question!'

The right wing swallow it up, when wiser people would question the validity of the story. As long as it appeals to their confirmation bias though, the right wing doesn't care about the validity of stories, just that they tell them what they want to hear.

Crimson Dynamo 16-03-2021 01:18 PM

People are laughing at the woke leftists

Bill has done them up like kippers

I get what you're saying Dezzy, and I agree with it to a certain extent.

However I do find it shocking that these opinions of hating white people (in this particular case white men) has been made more regularly recently than it would've been even as recent as 5 years ago.

The far right and far left are growing in numbers compared to what they were like in 2016, and in this particular case the far left are feeling very emboldened to keep being racist towards white people and misandrist which as I'm in both categories that the far left seem to really despise, they obviously lose me as a potential ally, as well as many other people.

But yeah the Media love to embellish how evil and insane the left are, even though for now the far left are still a minority thankfully.

I have no time for centrism.

Is this serious or not?

For me I lean more left, but I don't agree with far left ideology, it's just that simple for me.

I wouldn't vote Tory if you paid me.

I think trying to engage in critical thought and rejecting dogmatism is increasingly being seen as centrism, though, when it really has little to do with that aspect of the political spectrum.

Tom4784 16-03-2021 01:26 PM

I have no time for false equivalence and centrism relies on it to 'both sides' all issues.

Come talk to me about the 'far left' in the same breath as the far right when left leaning people launch an attack on the Senate, or when a left leaning extremist shoots an Brexiteer to death, or when pro-choice people are doing whatever the equivalent is of conservative pro-life harassing people outside of abortion clinics, so on, and so forth.

Centrism is just a mask for self aware right wingers who don't want to be seen as such at this point. I have little time for it.
