His name is not Belafonte. He changed it so people would think he was related to Harry Belafonte. He's a big old fantasist.

She marketed herself as scary spice then, despite having the means to leave him, she stayed with an abuser. It's an enigma.

Fiona Bruce is yet to comment, but is eager to hear what Mr Belafone’s friends think of the matter

It's not always easy to leave an abusive spouse.

Conflicted feelings are a helluva drug. Children complicate things.

She had the means to leave. She chose to stay with her children in that environment for ten years. To me it looks like she chose him over them.

And it looks to me like she was in love with a manipulative abuser, and probably couldn't even fathom that she had the option to leave.

Loving a man shouldn't allow a woman to place her kids in danger... And I find it hard to believe she was blinded by love for TEN YEARS!

I think this is a topic about which we'll have to agree to differ

Lol... I agree. Firm handshake and off to another topic. but not football generally nor West Ham specifically, please.

GoldHeart 11-03-2023 03:08 PM

I remember hearing about this at the time, when she was a judge on XF ..... I'm sure some people on tibb said she had bruises ?.

Also has anyone every thought that both of them could have been abusive towards eachother?? , just a thought...as it happens in relationships. But nobody should be putting their hands on someone unless it's self defence.

Liam- 11-03-2023 03:16 PM

Lmao so much for supporting women, without even an ounce of evidence or reason, you just casually throw out the suggestion that she was violent as well :joker:

Well it isn't impossible is it ?, Both men & women can be violent in a relationship.

I also said nobody should be putting their hands on anyone , unless self defence. But it's ok sausage you ignore that :hee:.

Liam- 11-03-2023 04:04 PM

You just came out of nowhere and suggested she abused him as well, with no evidence or any theory to back it up, other than ‘well it happens’ which yes it does happen, but to suggest someone who has a very public history of being a domestic abuse victim, might have been abusive as well, because you’ve suddenly become a peddler of alternative theories, does nothing but minimise what she has gone through

AnnieK 11-03-2023 04:10 PM

From what she has said, he was controlling, estranged her from her family and friends and controlled her life from sex, what she wore and what she ate. Abusers have a way of gaslighting and mentally controlling you thinking you have no way out. Whilst its difficult to imagine staying in a situation like that when you have children, unless you have lived it it is very difficult to fathom or understand.

Do you honestly think I'd support a wife beater :umm2: , for starters I'm not a fan of either of them ( I liked The Spice Girls back in the day though) . if he's an abuser then he should face the consequences.

It's interesting you've come for me just because I said Mel.B might have hit him... Like it's some cardinal sin I've committed to suggest it?!??, did I ever actually say I don't believe her ?? , don't worry I'll wait for the receipts sausage :hee:. I noticed you said nothing on the other comments in this thread until I said something .

I agree Annie

Gas lighting is a very real thing that happens, emotional abuse can be just as terrible as physical. Some men will manipulate women , it's classic abuse tactics.

I’ve commented on yours because I have half the people in this thread on ignore, you’re not special don’t worry.

I think it’s disgusting to just randomly accuse a victim of domestic violence of being an abuser herself without any evidence or reason, other than wanting to try and play devils advocate unnecessarily,

She did, she turned up to a live show with visible bruises and stuff all over her face and arms and then took time off after that to separate and get away from him I believe
