dodgy as anything, this happened to a pub near where we used to live, was a listed building so the builder had a lot of hoops to jump through and hey presto it got burnt to the ground

Maybe starting a Petition
made the New Owners
work Super Fast.

MP saying rebuild it
is he Potty?
It would be a Fire Risk, again.

Police have Confirmed the Fire was Arson

Who did it?

https://news.sky.com/story/police-no...arson-12936122

[Police say they are investigating a fire
which gutted a historic pub as arson.

A blaze caused extensive damage at
The Crooked House near Dudley,
an 18th-century building, on Saturday evening,
two weeks after it was sold by
brewer Marston's to a private firm.
Up to 30 firefighters were needed to tackle the
blaze at the pub in Himley.

The pub became widely regarded as Britain's
"wonkiest" due to one side being significantly
lower than the other, caused by the effects
of nearby mining.

The remainder of the building was demolished
by a mechanical digger on Monday, despite
South Staffordshire Council saying it had
permitted only the top floor to be
demolished for safety reasons.]

The glamorous businesswoman who bought 'Britain's wonkiest pub' before it was destroyed in a mysterious fire is married to the plant hire boss who was arguing with the venue about access to a landfill site behind it, it was revealed today.

MailOnline can reveal jet-setter Carly Taylor bought The Crooked House - an iconic 18th Century ale house - from brewery Marston's last month, only for the building to be turned into an inferno and bulldozed to the ground weeks later.

after closer inspection, it does look dodgy af

Cherie 10-08-2023 08:46 AM

so that is how the diggers go in to demolish it even though the front was blocked off, they had access from the land fill site.... its hardly the plot of the century I guess they will get away with it though unless they can be undeniably linked to the arson

arista 10-08-2023 01:25 PM

Another Pub on Fire today.
it was started in Kitchen

Not exactly criminal masterminds

he new owners of the Crooked House pub hired a digger several days before the building burnt down, with the vehicle used to demolish the building.

AT Contracting – owned by Carly Taylor, who bought the historic pub in Himley, near Dudley in the West Midlands, in July – rented the digger from a plant hire firm a week before the fire, which is being treated by police as arson.

It also emerged that the fire brigade’s attempts to put out the blaze were hampered by a large mound of earth that was blocking access to the site when they arrived on Saturday night.

Former regulars and the local MP are demanding that the building, known as the country’s wonkiest pub after it was affected by mining subsidence in the 19th century, is rebuilt brick by brick after the council said it was demolished without permission.

Dogs trained to detect accelerants have been to the site to help the police and fire brigade investigate the cause of the fire, which happened just a week after an application was made to give the Crooked House listed building status.

On Monday, a large digger owned by Lyndon Thomas plant hire, based in Northamptonshire, was filmed flattening the burnt-out building, despite instructions from the local authority to pull down only a small part of the structure, which was thought to be salvageable.
