How long does your monthly pay-check honestly last in these times?

“these times” being these cost-of-living-crisis times.

I get paid weekly. It definitely helps me to manage my money better.

Costa baby-chinos have recently gone up to a quid from 60 pence. They used to be a small enjoyment for some people to buy with their last pennies before payday but now they’re talking actual pounds. I mean, bloody hell.

Serious question

Has the price of drugs risen?
There was talk during lockdown that drug dealers were charging more due to restrictions

I see a news story, maybe just over a week ago on ITV saying how Cocaine is much cheaper, and much purer now than it was in 1999. Something to do with growers having massive amounts to shift due to the pandemic making things extremely awkward for them, and much harder for dealers to sell.

I don't work any more so at the beginning the drop from 2 full time decent wages every month to just my husbands was a shock but we are alright, we don't struggle (and I count myself very lucky for that as I know plenty do)

Josy 28-08-2023 11:00 AM

Although on the cost of living topic the prices of everything these days is absolutely shocking

I always go to Lild. Great value.

I’ve worked quite a few different jobs and had to work with different salaries but at the moment and with the way things are economically right now 17/18 days is about as far as it reaches. I tried to get an advance last month but there was one silly excuse after the other as-to why my dashboard hadn’t been updated (and it still hasn’t) so I’m just living from pay-check to pay-check at the moment. Savings definitely come in handy but I’m the sort of person who actually likes to let savings be savings and reserve them for a rainy day or something important. It takes forever and a day just to get anywhere with this current company. Just to get anywhere. So you just have to be extremely patient.

:worry: er this is the rainy day? and is important, getting an advance is not much good as you just fall further and further behind each month, if you have savings make sure you are earning as much interest as you can and if possible an account that pays monthly interest so you can use that and still leave the savings invested.

I haven’t got much at all in savings and I know there’s a lot of important stuff I’m going to need to pay for between now and this time next year so I’ve got to keep tabs on what-little I do have stored away. But yeah. You have a point.

I actually don’t mind them once in a blue moon if time is a factor ..

I have no idea what meat is used in those sausages though .. I dread to think

Yeah, I’d never eat sausages from a tin. That’s one of the reasons why I struggle with hot dogs made from tinned wiener sausages. I love hot dogs as much as the next person but they have to be made with tasty, non-canned sausages.

You can buy a bulk pack of these on Amazon 12 in a pack for 11.00 ...shop around Zizu

We're lucky enough to have two good incomes and they're also staggered (I get paid on or around the 14th of the month, my wife gets paid on the last working day of the month) which does help with budgeting more sensibly.
