***Official Celebrity Big Brother 2024 Ratings Thread**

A place to post overnight and consolidated figures for Celebrity Big Brother 23.

Any thoughts/predictions? BB 2023 had a 1.71m official average (well over 2m when ITVX is included)

I think a successful run on ITV1 would equal a 3m average (which I think is possible to be honest). I'm gonna say 3.2m for launch and an average 2.5-3.0m run.

New series starts Monday 4th March on ITV1 and ITVX

I made the thread over on DS, was going to post here, but you got there first haha.
Thanks for the thread!

Personally if i was to be honest, i don't think it will do well. I think moving it to ITV1 won't give it a big boost. I think it will start with like 2 million. Then settle at around 1.5m. We need to remember the ITV slot average is around 2.8m, and anything under 2.8m for the HL shows will be ripped apart by the media regardless.

Whereas if kept on ITV2 if it had only a 200k/300k increase from BB, that would be around a 1.2/1.3m overnight average and over 2m official which would be seen as huge

interesting; I suppose I am comparing it to the C5 situation where CBB would be around a million or so higher than the normal version, not just the move to ITV1.

Pretty sure the ITV1 slot average is around 2.4-5m; nothing in the 9pm slot has been higher than that outside of mr bates vs the post office recently. I don't think.

Interestingly I've seen an ITV call out for ads during CBB and they have a projected figure of 60 million streams for ITVX.

I don't think they'd have CBB on ITV1 lightly so they must have some hopes/insights...

…I’m going to go for 3 million for the launch viewing…

OLLIE97 26-02-2024 05:01 PM

A week today!

Here are all the official CBB averages;

CBB1- 5.2m
CBB2- 4.4m
CBB3- 4.2m
CBB4- 4.9m
CBB5- 4.6m
CBB6- 3.3m
CBB7- 3.7m
CBB8- 2.8m
CBB9- 2.6m
CBB10- 2.2m
CBB11- 2.8m
CBB12- 2.3m
CBB13- 3.1m
CBB14- 2.1m
CBB15- 3.1m
CBB16- 1.9m
CBB17- 2.8m
CBB18- 2.1m
CBB19- 2.4m
CBB20- 1.8m
CBB21- 1.9m
CBB22- 2.0m

I think anything under a 2.5m average will be pretty poor although airing on ITV 1 didn't really help civilian BB on the shows that were multicast so I think don't think there's as high a ceiling for BB as we might wish

The launch did get over 3m though so CBB should aim to beat that. Hopefully around 2.7/2.8m on overnight

A positive is that there is literally nothing of interest against it.

BBC1 has The Way's final episode which by the way, the 2nd episode last night got 880k which is one of BBC1's lowest ever ratings in the 9pm slot.

MAFS AUS airs between 7:30pm and 9pm. And looking at the other channels, you have no sports of interest on any channel, and a couple of shows that get between half a million to a million on C5/BBC2.

So i really think there is no excuse not to top the ratings for the slot.

*mazedsalv** 04-03-2024 09:23 AM

A bit of interesting official ratings for the highest rated episodes of CBB on channel 5.

Below are the top 5 overall top ratings:

1. CBB8 launch - 5.27m
2. CBB13 Final - 3.71m
3. CBB13 Launch - 3.69m
4. CBB11 Launch - 3.61m
5. CBB9 Final- 3.60m

Highest non launch or final ratings:

1. CBB8 Day 2- 3.37m
2. CBB13 (Lee's eviction)- 3.23m
3. CBB15 Day 12- 3.21m

I believe that the CBB15 there was the Sunday highlight show which had the hls of Katie Prices entrance.

Also looking at that CBB13 really was a huge hit. I can see why they extended the series by almost a week during the run.

2.7 million for launch

I guess average but not amazing.

I did feel like the launch was missing some excitement.

I don’t know if it’s the set or what it is, it always feels like it’s missing something.

I think the cast is good, going to be lots of drama.

Ammi 05-03-2024 12:41 PM

…I wasn’t too far off with a 3 million launch audience …it was just a complete random guess…

Bang on :smug:

Quite a positive spin but I expect this'll mean that Salv is right and it'll settle to about 1.5m overnights for most of the run

Ammi 06-03-2024 02:28 PM

…I’m being really dumb but I don’t know what ‘settling overnights’ means…viewers including live feed ones…?…so working it all out the next morning with those figures as well…?…

Yeah it was a positive spin from them.

And yeah I know people see a rating like that and pull a weird face. But we need to remember that 2 million is actually ITV's slot average, sometimes it gets mid 1s. For example all the sport last week was in the mid 1s. Even huge shows like Trigger Point is getting 2.1-2.4m overnights. They are however timeshifting like mad.

And again, i know it's in ITV and the others were Channel 5, but last nights rating was the highest rated HL show since 2016 I hear (CBB17).

But as I said before this week will be a big struggle especially tomorrow with The Apprentice.

But it could timeshift like mad this series. ITV shows seem to do that more than any other channel. BB last year doubled.

"Settling overnight"? I am guessing ratings that flatten out. It happens after about a week. For example last years reg series was dropping for the entire first week, and then settled at 800k-900k throughout the entire run.

The overnights that we get every morning only includes people who have watched Live as it airs on TV and up to (i think) around midnight that same night.

Then the officials we get 2 weeks later is:

Everyone that watches on record afterwards in between those times or anyone who watched on ITVX.

To put into prospective if a show has insane word of mouth it can go to ridiculously high levels on catch up.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office i believe only was averaging around 3 million overnight on ITV1. After the word of mouth and national and international interest in the scandal, the figures rose to over 10 million for the series as people caught up.

….ahhh, so kind of things that could cause the viewing figures to be inflated or low because of a specific…but not an overall reflective….kind of an average viewing rate but also dependant on media factors as well, if there were anything controversial that gained media interest …I knew that it wouldn’t be because the figures were settling through the night……but I was trying to understand the meaning so I could understand the viewing more this series…thank you so much for explaining, Salv……

Overnights so far;

Mon- 2.8m
Tue- 2.1m
Wed- 1.9m
Thu- 1.9m

Launch is a given but I imagine all these figures will be over the 3m mark with catch up.

Ammi 08-03-2024 02:09 PM

…I mean, overall so far…are the ratings good/around average…/…not so good, could it be said…?…

MTVN 08-03-2024 02:37 PM

It's good that it stayed at 1.9m up against the Apprentice

I think the ratings are very average. It's doing better than most C5 CBBs and TV viewership has declined a lot even since then. As the debut series on ITV1 though they might have hoped for a bit more as it looks like 2m will probably be it's ceiling.

Ammi 08-03-2024 02:58 PM

…it’s a shame it couldn’t have been higher as well because I see that MAFS Australia have an earlier slot now and that finishes at 9pm…I don’t know if it’s to avoid clashing or if that has no bearing…but I don’t think that BB has anything particularly to conflict with the viewing times…

Vanessa 08-03-2024 04:11 PM

Its pretty steady. Good.

Yep, everything is low in other channels. So far it has topped its slot 3 times out of 4. Gone are the days where even BBC would be regularly getting 2 million. They only surpassed 2m on Tuesday with the Sarah Everard doc which also got 2.1m.

I think the catch up figures will be interesting.

ITV1 is not the right place for CBB.

It should have stayed on ITV2.

I feel embarrassed for ITV1, although I like CBB but it's not great this year.

Vanessa 09-03-2024 09:09 AM

From what I'm seeing I'm enjoying it. Nice that the cracks are starting to show

Zizu 09-03-2024 09:25 AM

Cracks are fine as long as nobody gets hurt ..
