I feel like it's not fair that these women are being paid less for doing the exact same job as the men.

And god help me, that's twice this morning where I've made Feminist arguments.:bawling:

They're not.

Checkout operators (of both genders) get paid less than warehouse staff (of both genders).

This seems to rear it's head every couple of years and I've never been convinced that the two jobs are equivalent

Yup, totally different physicality and expectations.

Maybe the people moaning should give the warehouse a go, and see if they think the jobs are the same?

I've not looked :shrug: slightly more than those who get to sit at the till all day.

Although the till workers do have to deal with some vile customers.

So it's a bit of a thankless job in that sense.

Sure, I think part of their argument is that listening to impolite people talk is as taxing as physically lugging things around.

Tbf, sometimes the situation can escalate into more than just exchange of words.

Just to clarify, my intention is not to disrespect Warehouse workers.

I just feel that both jobs are really hard in different ways I would imagine.

They are not doing the same job

I hear Costa coffee is terrible.

Both jobs should be a doddle for a healthy human.

Plenty of people would rather work in a warehouse than sit at a till all day/deal with the public all day

Surely it's not about whether they are the same job, but rather are they in the same pay range. If a man on the till earns the same as a man in the warehouse then there certainly is a problem

And plenty would prefer to interact with people and have a nice chat

A man on the till would earn the same as a woman on the till. And a woman in the warehouse would earn the same as a man in the warehouse.

My sister and sister in law have both worked for Waitrose

They have a system where you get a high rate depending on how friendly and professional you are on the tills

yeah, people on the tills spend the day chatting to customers :laugh:

Do that for too long in front of me and your getting a packet of spaghetti round the lug hole.

They do in my local Lidl, just a nice 30 second chat

The other day the lad put my carrier bag on this little counter hook and i was was taken aback that is like all the many years going to Lidl i had never once seen that hook (so you can pack with 2 hands ) He was laughing but i for some reason has never seen it
