South Korea plane crash kills 179, with two crew rescued

* At least 124 people are dead after a plane crashed while landing at an airport in South Korea

* The Boeing 737-800 flight - operated by airline Jeju Air - had 181 passengers on board and was arriving at Muan Airport from Bangkok, Thailand

* Footage online appears to show the plane coming off the runway and crashing into a wall, before bursting into flames

* No cause has been confirmed - but the fire service says it believes a collision with birds and poor weather may be to blame

* Two survivors, both members of the flight crew, have been pulled from the debris and rescue efforts continue

…devastating…it’s reporting 175 passengers on board and ‘almost all killed’ so yeah ‘at least’ 124…and maybe many going home from Christmas family visits…so close to completing landing, it always feels a safer time but for this flight, just catastrophic…and weather conditions can be very unpredictable also…

Terrible news. I'm really sorry this happened.

Ammi 29-12-2024 07:41 AM

…some reports are now saying 151 killed…it feels as though all on board are presumed dead but not yet confirmed…

Final footage of doomed South Korean Jeju Air flight 7C2216 shows one of the
planes engines explode mid air, minutes before it landed and burst into flames.

If I’m ever in a plane crash scenario I’m getting out of my seat and going as far to the back of the plane as possible, given these past two crashes

Absolutely horrendous and so close to the holidays. Didn't know sitting at the back was safer. I'll keep that in mind next time I fly.
