No Trousers Tube Day

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/clyevk5ng7eo

Why is this neccessary?

Just seems like a ideal opportunity for perverted people to be gross in public.

Or is it all just a bit of fun?

I feel a bit sick.

I mean, I understand the sentiment and I think plenty of people are genuinely doing it in that spirit, however I think it'd be a tad naive to overlook the fact that there'll be a lot of dirty fellers who are there as an excuse to flash their chubber on public transport.

But each to their own I guess, I personally hesitate to sit on a train seat (let alone an underground seat) without 4 or 5 layers of kevlar between me and the fabric, let alone doing it with my lovely thighs fully exposed.

They'll be heading home with scabies.

When people are obsessed with other peoples genitalia I can see why lewd ideas like that surface. You really single out the real perverts in all of this.

Nothing I don't think.

Creator Charlie Todd told the BBC: "The whole point is just to create unexpected moments of joy, delight and confusion."

If you don't believe that a good number of men will use it as an excuse to get their rocks off then you're unfortunately, simply, painfully naive about the actual extent of the problem. "Lewd ideas like that" unfortunately surface from personal and professional experience of a decent percentage of blokes being repulsive and sexually aggressive. I'm happy for you that you've managed to get so far in life without realising this, it must be a pleasant headspace to exist in.

joeysteele 13-01-2025 03:56 PM

Nah, not for me.

You’re wrong but we’re not gonna agree so let’s move on.

If I'm wrong that you're naive then you're telling deliberate half-truths for political-alignment reasons.

I'm simply factually not-wrong that a percentage of the men in those videos are getting a sexual thrill out of being able to walk around in their underwear in public "with an excuse". Not all of them, definitely some of them, especially as (I imagine?) the event was advertised and would specifically attract those people. Why wouldn't it attract them? And if you concede that it would attract them... to say that it isn't why some of them have chosen to attend, is to argue that such men "don't exist". Which is a ludicrous claim to the extent that it doesn't even need to be considered.

Bollox

Livia 13-01-2025 06:23 PM

TFL banned a poster for a West End show that had a wedding cake on it because, they said, they wouldn't accept any ad that promotes obesity. But you can travel wearing only your shreddies. Khan's London.

Hopefully not the fattys peeping out the side of his baggy boxers, 2 steps in front of you going up the escalator.

Glenn. 13-01-2025 07:38 PM

If that’s where your eyes are I’d say that’s a you problem

Beso 13-01-2025 07:56 PM

So let me get this straight!

Theres a fat bloke in his baggy Yfronts with his bollox hanging out the worn gusset 2 or 3 steps in front of me going up the escalator. I'm heeding TFL advice and staring straight ahead on the escalator, but it's my problem that I've just seen his danglers, dangling in front of my eyes.
