Happy Valentine's Day Tibb folk.

Do you do the traditional card giving or not?

Niamh. 14-02-2025 10:14 AM

Not really, it's kind of stupid "holiday" tbh, such money racket. We said Happy Valentines Day to each other this morning  Christmas and birthdays are enough for me to deal with tbh

Yes fair comment, it is a money making racket true. We do get cards though and a small gift. Only spend a little bit.

Its for kids and teens and radio stations. I genuinely feel sorry for any adult man who has to go for a meal tonight and pretend to be into it - plus they will miss Brighton v Chelsea

Are you saying women aren’t adults?

Livia 14-02-2025 10:41 AM

We exchange cards,... He's under strict instructions not to buy flowers, it's a racket.

You don't think men like going out for dinner? My son and his g/f are going out (he's not into soccer so wouldn't be watching that match anyway) for food, he loves eating out - plus me and Gav gave them a voucher for that restaurant for Christmas so it will be free

Yes that is too expensive. I got given a little box of chocs and gave a Terry's chocolate orange. And cards. So I agree Liv.

I have a special Valentine's message for @Crimson Dynamo...

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Sniff this rag and get in the van

Anyone seen the trend going around online of ' bae baskets' ? , it seems to be mostly an American thing. But they buy their gf or bf loads of gifts ,and put it all in a care package. Alot of it was overconsumption of random stuff , like those ' restocking ' videos...but some of it looked sweet and cute , like thought actually went into it.

Happy Valentine's day! I made a breakfast of heart shaped pancakes and strawberry slices this morning, was lovely. I also dressed in hot pink for a family walk in the park. I think it's lovely to celebrate holidays, especially the ones with lovely intentions, you don't have to spend money.

AHH that's pretty cool :)

Cherie 14-02-2025 02:21 PM

we dont really celebrate it though I have picked up a fancy dinner for 2 from the butchers

a few weeks back I was in the corner shop and two young boys probably 10 to 12 were looking at the boxes of chocolates, one of the boys brought one to the counter but he did not have enough money, I heard him saying he had 6.90 so nosily I asked him who he was buying for and he said it was for Valentines for his GF so I told him to bring it on and he put his money on the counter, a fiver and a load of change  so I took the fiver paid the balance and gave him back the rest .... ...I remember being in a shop when I was about 7 and I was buying some penny sweets and my neighbour came in and bought me a bar of peppermint Aero I have never forgotten that gesture ....
