Pakistani paedos in grooming gangs didn't even face appropriate jail terms for their crimes. I'll wait and see if this ever happens.

Sky News reports that sex offenders and paedos will POSSIBLY be OFFERED the option of chemical castration ..

So it’s basically a no story

So it’s basically a no story

…it’s not a non story…(…as if Arista would give a non story……)…

The government is to rollout a chemical castration pilot for sex offenders in 20 prisons, the justice secretary has confirmed.

An independent sentencing review recommended a series of reforms to tackle the issue of overcrowding in prisons in England and Wales, including early release, which are being considered by Shabana Mahmood.

The review, led by former Conservative justice secretary David Gauke, suggests mitigating the danger of reoffending for sex offenders released early with drugs that “suppress libido” or reduce “sexual thoughts”.

Following the recommendations, Mahmood has now told the Commons that a rollout of chemical castration will go ahead – and it may potentially become mandatory.

She said: “The review has recommended we continue a pilot of so-called medication to manage problematic sexual arousal.

“I will go further with a national rollout, beginning in two regions covering 20 prisons. And I am exploring whether mandating the approach is possible.

“Of course, it is vital that this approach is taken alongside psychological interventions that target other causes of offending, like asserting power and control.”

What does the report say?

Asked about chemically castrating sex offenders, Gauke told Sky News on Thursday that it is “not appropriate for every sexual offender”, adding that evidence has to be “built up” about its effectiveness.

He added: “I’m not going to claim it’s the answer for everything. This is about reducing the risk of reoffending in future.

…full article, it’s very high profile mainstream news story atm…

Sky News clearly said the option of chemical castration MAY be offered though about 20 minutes ago

They are displaying the pros and cons

Beso 22-05-2025 01:11 PM

I'm assuming the victims have been ignored in all of this..as usual.

Maru 22-05-2025 03:13 PM

I'm sure this will work just as well as releasing the mentally ill dysfunctional individual back into the population and expecting them to be timely on medication to steer away from trouble. How one does a study on that is interesting as well as who is going to self-report an illegal sex offense? And how do they know the medication was delivered on time and properly without impacting the quality on the study (incarcerated setting where medication is mandated would mean they're heavily supervised, etc). Sadly, all these supposed easy "just take a pill", etc fixes to society's ills need a lot of verification before we should ever trust them, much less implement them on a wide scale.

Whenever we give permission for the state to commit violence against any of us - however much you might think they deserve it, the state is one step closer to committing violence against all of us.

Folks are complaining about white moms being locked up for saying burn them in hotels, and that all came about because of the clampdown on BLM with the anti-protest bill, that most of the folks opposed to an incarcerated racist mom, clapped like seals for.

The state should not be in the business of violence against citizens, however heinous their crimes.
