Litter
 

In my area the litter has increased.
It annoys me so much when people just drive by and through litter out of their car window, not realing the implications it will have.

Do you drop litter?
Is their litter in your area?
Does in annoy you?

Yes I do drop litter sometimes, I try to avoid it, but holding a empty can of Coke in my hand in sub-zero temperatures with no bins in sight is a good enough reason

I never litter.

I dont know why, i just dont see the point when there bins all over the place.

If I can't see a bin then I'll just drop it. We have those street cleaners about everywhere so dropping it isn't an issue of there isn't a bin in sight. If I can see a bin then depending on what it is I'll wait until I pass the bin.

God! It annoys me so much!
Especially when people through it out car windows. Why not just take it home.

And is it really that much to carry a bottle of coke?

I hate litter and it's a problem in my area but I drop it because I am too idle to walk to a bin.

It is when your hand is freezing and you are 15 mins from home

15 minutes, barely a mile.

And spike, if you hate it, why drop it?

Tom - The street cleaners get paid from are taxes, and you may claim this is giving people a job, but their wage is more than that of a someone on benefits, and their are more jobs available in other puplic sectors which they could be employed for.

Street cleaning is keeping people in work, would you rather see millions of people jobless?

Of course not, but the money spent on employing them to clean the streets could be spent on them improving puplic services.

I hate it when people say that by dropping litter they are helping people out, its like the guilt free card.

Maybe the council could spend the money on more bins?

Or the "But they are paid for that !" card. Excuse me ? Even if that person is there to clean, it doesn't mean we shouldn't respect this one, there are bins for that, the street is not a place for garbage, bins are.

Exactally. Is pure lazyness when people think they can just drop their litter and it will get cleaned up behind them.

I live in the country, and the cans, bottles & polethene that people through out their window wont get cleaned by the council.

Most town centres have enough bins, its just peopel cany be bother to walk 10 yards to the nearest one.

You obviously havent been to Burnley then, from the Bus Station to the far end of Turf Moor there isnt one bin thats about 1/4 of a mile

And before you ask, I did keep it in my hand until I reached a bin, even though my hand was freezing

The village is ok, its just I live on the outskirts, and on that stretch of rode since Sat Nav became big and began directing more cars their, the litter has increased.

1/4 of a mile isnt exactally a marathon though. And that wasn't in the town centre.
