go the real deal Marcus.

CaraRawr 23-07-2009 03:12 PM

LOL go Marcus!

ElProximo 23-07-2009 03:12 PM

I would believe it though. To my surprise and to my pain I found out that arm wrestling is largely technique and some sort of strength that does not seem to come from bodybuilding or rugby training.
I once tried arm wrestling this skinny dude.. .. I think they say 'wirey', thin arms but very sinewy and veiny hard muscle types thin arms.
Anyways.. despite having arm muscles at least twice his size, at the time training in boxing - no way. He not only won easily 3 in a row but for a week I could barely bend my elbows.
Later he explained some techniques and how much was actually technique to my further surprise.

But yeah.. well Marcus will be just hugely high about that for days so that should just add to the enjoyment I experience watching his idiotic 'fighty' 17 year old boy macho mannism.
I suppose Tom isn't bothered.
Greatness!

Yeh i know lol.

Freddie is a silly man.

Arm Wrestle Technique > strength.

Weightlifting Strenght = Technique.

and toms the stronger..

Uhhhh....
Well I just watched the video and Marcus most definitely comes out the laughable loser folks.
First - he ridiculously all but stands on Toms arm.. I mean Marcus might as well climb up on his arm and started jumping up and down on it.. while Tom grins,
and,
After making a fool out of himself Marcus then denies any wrongdoing and insists he read the rules and it was legal lmfao.

Second attempt.. well I'm surprised Tom wasn't injured after Marcus basically just rocked his plump body weight on it,
but,
again Marcus has to go into borderline illegal moves (fighting for his teenage life) as Tom clearly is not even countering with a tenth of the enthusiasm.

Now honestly - I would even accept Marcus could win that and even Tom admitted (and I believe him) he is not good at arm wrestling,
but,
sure enough as soon as I watch the video it is (once again) Marcus looking like a complete knob.

Tom came off as a class act after all.

30stone 23-07-2009 03:30 PM

aahahhaah :joker::joker:

Thats quality.
He will win the weightlifting to.

I bet it some **** for weightlifting...

They will have to do like 100 reps with a light weight.

I bet they wont let them deadlift or bench press real heavy.

superfanno1 23-07-2009 03:34 PM

Marcus is a legend.

He's really quite an innocent, childlike sort of man isn't he.

No malice in him - he's just a big kid!

LOL, I watched the video, it was embarassing for Marcus.

On the first attempt he cheated by getting off the seat.
On the second he used his entire body.

Tom didn't seem to be trying that hard, Marcus obviously wanted it more.

But well done Marcus, haha.

scot 23-07-2009 03:44 PM

I used to do a bit of body building/strength training. Was quite into it for a few years. Trained hard.

the thing is, though Tom does have an impressively pumped and cut physique, such physiques are usually(but not exclusivley) constructed primarly through high reps(8 - 12) and middling to light-heavy poundages. While such a routine can build a Tom like body it is not the best routine for building power and strength.

Sure Tom is gonna be stronger than the average jo in the street, but take it from me Tom is not going to be anywhere near as strong as he looks.

Another thing i have noticed about Tom and is indicative of someone who trains for 'looks' and not power is that he has realtively skinny untrained legs. Squats and dead lifts are the most tortorous moves and essential for building over all power. Like many gym boys it looks Tom cant hack the realy punishing stuff in the gym and instead sticks to high repping upper body development.

If you look at Marcus he obviously isnt as cut as Tom but he does look like a powerfull man. I've noticed a lot of posts across the forum saying that Marcus is fat. He is not fat he is absolutely solid.

I wonder how Noirin will react to this?

AfroMullet 23-07-2009 03:45 PM

Marcus you beast.

I doubt because Marcus beat Tom in an armwrestling match she will fall into his arms!!!!

your prob right about the poundages cos of health and safety.

however you seem to be saying that Tom would beat Marcus in the heavier compound movements of deadlift or bench press.

Personally i think it would be a close call. Im not sure at all if Tom could win the deadlift. Looks like he's mostly stuck to uper body development on the gym. Reckon he dont visit the squat rack too often. Marcus on the other hand has a typical power lifter physique.

could be very intersting though.

Jordan. 23-07-2009 03:51 PM

Haha go on Marcus :dance2:

AhmedFan2004 23-07-2009 03:58 PM

The problem was, Marcus cheated both times, but Tom was taking the p*ss by saying 'Awwww' at the end of each attempt, not trying as hard.

They both should have just done it properly, equal positioning, etc. But there you go, that's typical male ego ehhh!

walter 23-07-2009 03:59 PM

lol i would still say tom is stronger

Watch the video on channel4.com/bigbrother

It was embarassing for Marcus, cheating and trying mega hard, whilst Tom was taking it easy and saying 'Awww' at the end of each attempt.

It looked so lame, lol.

Yes but we havent exactly seen toms legs to be honest.

I would like to see what they could do, but it will be simple like 60kg and just do as many as possible..

I still think Tom would win in deadlift, marcus is the type that talks a lot in the gym, but never does much.

Hes body is more powerlifter type but i am not sure he does any of it..

And lol did you find it funny him teaching ken to punch?? LOL Thats and "arm punch"

LOL

AhmedFan2004 23-07-2009 04:13 PM

From Channel4.com:

Tom beat Marcus in the weightlifting challenge.

Halfwit predicted the winners of all 3 tasks (Marcus vs Tom: Arm Wrestle, Siavash vs Kenneth: Valuation, Tom vs Marcus: Weightifting) incorrectly.

LOL, so basic budget again.

scot 23-07-2009 04:16 PM

Tom did him then.

Poor Marcus.:puzzled:

LOL, Marcus didn't have long to bask in the glory.

I do think Tom should have tried as hard as Marcus did in the Arm Wrestle though; even if it was just for the sake of winning for the team.

I think he didn't want to upset Marcus, or wanted to show him up as a major try hard, or both.

Embarassing though, lol.

fab07 23-07-2009 04:21 PM

tom let him win???? these marcus haters:cheer2: freddie told tom he had to win & he still lost! he tryed to make out he wasnt bothered!

marcus biatch slapped him:cheer2:

sol 23-07-2009 04:22 PM

Lol nice one Marcus! :hello:

Well he wasn't trying as hard as Marcus, Marcus was leaning at the edge of his seat using his body; but Tom just sat still and smiled.

I do agree that Tom should have tried harder, and that Freddie was annoyed.

But Tom then won the weightlifting challenge against Marcus. So he tried there?

Pretty weird.

walter 23-07-2009 04:30 PM

i'd rather win the weightlifting than arm wrestling

Speedy 23-07-2009 04:35 PM

scot 23-07-2009 04:36 PM

scot 23-07-2009 04:39 PM

I'd rather win the lifting too. but then again there's something about taking someone on man to man like that without an iron bar getting between the both of you. But good on them both. Tom has went up in my estimation.
