I can't stand watching films on my pc, much prefer watching them on my TV. Anyway my recomondations would be:
Let the Right One In Princess Mononoke (and generally anything Studio Ghibli, they can do no wrong in my eyes) The Orphanage The Royal Tenenbaums (I LOVE LOVE LOVE this film and Wes Anderson in general) Grave of the Fireflies (Another Studio Ghibli film, but I'd reccomend it anyway. Completely heartbreaking but brilliant.) |
Quote:
Have a soft spot for A Fistful of Dynamite because it's a lesser known Sergio Leone film -without having the star power of Clint Eastwood- but it has two great leads and a wonderful score by Ennio Morricone. Silly fun. |
Today it's
Sleeper (1973) The Lavender Hill Mob (1951) M (1931) The Big Sleep (1946) Oldboy (2003) Princess Mononoke (1997) La haine (1995) - TV series - Oz Shaun I torrent at night, if I got the dvd I'll rip it and rapidshare all day. Dezzy I've seen all but Orphanage (I take it it is good?) ps link the pc to the tv if you can I've watched all films I download. great to hear from like minded film buffs |
Setanta any recommendations mate?
And Ennio rocks (I got once in west abrev. theme for ringtone) |
It depends what you're looking for Ghostface. I'll watch anything, whatever genre. What did you think of the european version of Leon? Haven't see that one in ages but remember there was much more of a sexual overtone between the two leads that probably influenced the studios when they decided to cut it again. Apparently Besson was raging over it.
|
I prefer the "international" version, more of my fave film it's gotta be good.
It was Besson's baby so can imagine he'd be raging. I don't think the american audiences could handle the risque eventual platonic relationship. Can you name your top 5 LB I'm into any decent films over all genre |

Luc Besson
|
BBUK4LYFE good film but prefer the 1975 version
|
I honestly can't really answer that question properly as I'm not familiar enough with his french films, particularly the ones he's produced. I wouldn't class myself as a fan of his in the first place. He's made one or two classics but the rest I can live without- too much style over substance.
Anway..... my favs would be Leon, Fifth Element and the Big Blue. I really love the Big Blue because it's very odd but seems to be very important to the director. Has some beautiful scenes in it. I love those kinda films...heroic, heartfelt failures that are sooo close to being perfect. So many films like Big Blue that I love but know that they're lacking in certain areas. |
Leon...its amazing,
i haven't downloaded in awhile until i move back into our apartment in september. |
Sorry, found one of his earlier ones I want to watch called Subway.
|
He also produced Nil by Mouth. Didn't realise that.
|
Leon
Nikita Big blue 5th element Angel-a is a sweet film |
ps I don't recommend Subway
Jean Reno wasn't that great in it Maybe it get's better in time tho |

Where do you get the memory for all these movies Ghostface and where do you find them online?
|
setanta I'm using a 1.5 terrabyte external storage
I got most my films from http://www.rapidfind.org/upload/index.php and Utorrent I recommend getting a rapidshare account. Amazingly cheap and you can share the account with at least 4 close friends |

I won't bother burning them onto dvds unless somebody wants to have a film. My terrabyte (I've lovingly called Mnemosyne) is my library.
As soon as it's filled I'll buy another for under £100 I have over 300 films and counting and 290 Gb worth of music |
