September 11th - 8 Years On..

Weird to think that this was 8 years ago, thought I'd make a thread to discuss it.

Anyone remember what they were doing when they found out about the attacks????

Locke. 10-09-2009 11:05 PM

Playing heads and vols in the street, came in for a drink and saw it on the news.

Novo 10-09-2009 11:05 PM

I was in year 7

watching it at my friends house before getting a lift to school

Iceman 10-09-2009 11:06 PM

I came home from School on lunch break and my Sister was freaking out saying the world was ending......2 people went back in after lunch that day.....

Jayson 10-09-2009 11:08 PM

I remember I was ill that day, so I stayed at home and watched it on the news.

Was a sad day.

MrGaryy 10-09-2009 11:10 PM

I was at home for some reason, woke up at like 11 went down and saw my mum watching it on the news, freaking out as my sister was in San Francisco at the time.

I hate when a relative or friend is somewhere when something terrible happens....

My brother has photos of him on top of the Twin Towers 2 months to the date before it happened, really weird to look at knowing all them people died...

GypsyGoth 10-09-2009 11:21 PM

My main memory of that day is the relief at the fact that the Statue of Liberty wasn't damaged, not sure why, I guess I was young at the time and the towers didn't mean much then.

I have since realise the tragedy of the occasion.

Our school had tv's in every room and my mate who did go back in after lucnh said all classes were cancelled and they just put the news on.....

BBUK4LYFE 10-09-2009 11:28 PM

I remember that day like it was yesterday.

Honestly I'm shocked that its 8 years already.

I remember seeing ground zero, it was pitch black.

Sad day.

Also its crazy that Osama Bin Laden is still out there free somewhere.

It's not crazy it's disgusting he's still out there, scum of the earth......

King Gizzard 10-09-2009 11:33 PM

hmm i firmly believe its a huge conspiracy and it was the governments idea..but osama still is one vile evil human that needs to be caught and die a slow death, along with mugabe

MrGaryy 10-09-2009 11:47 PM

My sister's ex boyfriend was on a plane from New York when it happened. He didn't find out anything until he got home like 12 hours later, his mum was going apeshit at home.

and this guy in my history class, was immigrating from Russia to England when it happened and it was announced on the plane as they landed.

30stone 11-09-2009 12:06 AM

I dont know why duno if i was ill or somthing but i was off school i think watching it on tv.

Am watching it now the show from the other day..
its terrible.

Iceman 11-09-2009 12:07 AM

I've watched loads of shows over the past week, it's still shocking to watch.....

xDramatick 11-09-2009 06:36 AM

I was at school, I remember us being told but I didn't think that much of it at first [I never was one for world news as a child, regardless of how tragic] and then being really confused when I got home and one of my favourite shows wasn't on TV that night and my parents had to explain to me why.

GhettoSuperstar 11-09-2009 07:49 AM

Yeah - its my birthday

Captain.Remy 11-09-2009 07:53 AM

Second day of High School, I was 11. I went back from school and then I watched it on TV, I thought it was a movie but it actually wasn't.

charmingmissc 11-09-2009 08:47 AM

i got a news alert on my computer.

i spent the rest of the day watching sky news,

as time goes on, i find it harder to watch or read anything about it.

i could not watch voices from the towers, a programme about peoples last phone calls.

if you want to take your own life...fine

but leave other people alone.

Jackie 11-09-2009 08:52 AM

RIP to all the people that were killed that day,and also my heart goes out to all the relatives, friends, lovers, and children that are sadly remembering this awfull day.

Captain.Remy 11-09-2009 09:28 AM

My cousin was in NY city at that moment because she went to see Michael Jackson live. She still can't describe what she felt when the towers fell. To her it was another world, she ran ran and ran in the streets and she managed to hide from the smoke.

Mark 11-09-2009 09:34 AM

What does the site look like at the moment? Are they far in the rebuilding process?

Tom 11-09-2009 09:37 AM

7 World Trade Center has been completely rebuilt (the smaller one that noone really cares about) and the site of the main towers looked like this in July, so no they aren't really that far

\PJ/ 11-09-2009 10:32 AM

I was at school then when i got home i saw it.

Vicky. 11-09-2009 11:14 AM

I was at school...my school told us nothing at all about it, went home at 3pm and saw it on the news. My mother was disgusted that the school didnt even acknowledge it.

My Auntie and uncle were in london on the 7/7 aswell, used a tube and bus.
I was on a school trip to legoland..

And R.I.P all that died in both incidents.

We got told nothing.

We even had to protest to do the 2 minute silence or whatever it was. The headteacher didnt want us to miss out on lessons :bored:

NettoSuperstar! 11-09-2009 11:35 AM

I was in my bedroom getting ready for work and my mate texted me to put telly on...It were mental

30stone 11-09-2009 11:48 AM

Did not realise..

Loads of people like firemen who were the first at the site, have died from cancer and asbestos poisoning and that.

Feel sorry for them, just trying to help.

Around 100 ground zero recovery workers have died of cancer, with a further 600 hundred diagnosed with the disease.

Thats terrible.

I wonder if anyone was killed by the initial debris from the plane.

andyman 11-09-2009 11:51 AM

I got in from work at around 12.30pm (night driver with a late shift), maybe bit later, i sat down with a brew and switched sky news on... Shocker!

At the time only one tower was hit and nobody know 100% how, but then... '*****ING HELL!' Live on tv million saw the 2nd plane hit the other tower..

Then all panic on the streets, reports of other attacks... And the towers fell to add to the death toll.

xDramatick 11-09-2009 12:13 PM

not to mention when you consider the people who:
- could've been in the floors above where the plane hit.
- the people who jumped from the towers.
- the people on the plane (I remember reading the body of an air hostess with her hands tied behind her back was found intact)
- anyone who could've been stuck in a lift not knowing what was going on.

ugh i hate thinking about this, so upsetting.

Nicky. 11-09-2009 12:16 PM

No idea, I was 7... I didn't even realise how bad it was...

I must've came in from school and it was on the news, although I remember watching the news in school once, but I can't remember what that was for... :\

ButterflyGirl 11-09-2009 12:31 PM

sitting at home right next to the tv ,watching in utter disbelief, i still get upset now if i see the attacks on television

Christina 11-09-2009 12:36 PM

I came home from school and me and my family were watching it, think i was in year 5?? RIP to all those who died :(

Josy 11-09-2009 12:36 PM

I was doing my housework with sky news on when the first plane hit and i was shocked, my bf and i watched the news all day after that, i was 19 when it happened.

Shaun 11-09-2009 12:40 PM

I was leaving school and people were crowding around classroom television sets, I didn't really see what had happened but then heard about it on the radio on the way home - got home and saw them collapse.

*mazedsalv** 11-09-2009 01:27 PM

Back from school (I was 8) was feeling abit ill, saw my Mum watching it on the news.

I heard somewhere that is was the most watched thing on TV in History (espcially for a piece of news), Im sure i read that 4b people were watching it (2/3 of the world).
