Has anyone ever seen the avid merrion adverts on E4? Well if not look out for them he claims to be the biggest bb fan ever anyway on the one i saw today he had taken Craig hostage to try and get in the bb house :laugh: just thought i'd share this as i found it very funny!

I've not seen these ads - when when??

These awful adverts spring up on E4 between all their evening programmes. The first one was bad enough, it features a very odd dutch guy called Avid Merrion who is suppose to be BB's biggest fan. At the beginning of the advert he is holding up a poster of the gorgeous Brian whose mouth has been cut out, and Avid is poking his disgusting tongue out through it..eeewwww!!!
We then see him lying in a bed with a blown up doll with Penny's face on it and with legs akimbo which he is stroking and slobbering all over..yuk!
Avid has a chicken called Marjorie and posters, pictures and BB bumph all over his room...what a pigsty.
He now has two 'kidnap' themed adverts on the go, one has BB1 winner Craig Philips tied up reading a ransom note while Avid pleads to be picked in a mock audition video, and very late last night there was an even worse advert, the 2nd using the same theme which has Craig locked up in some kind of broom cupboard...both show Avid either slobbering over him or taunting him with promises of kisses and cuddles...it is all very weird and not nice at all.. I don't like them one bit...EEEEWWWWWW GET HIM OFF!!!

Oh and by the way the adverts are advertizing all the Big Brother interactive facilities.

I must admit Honey I agree, they are vile, especially the bit in the main ad where he has loads and loads of BB pics on his wall and he licks one, puts it up, and says 'I keep all of these up with my spittle!' Yuk!

Sorry everyone who hates him, I think he's absolutely brilliant. He is a wonderful send up, and I thought he was hilarious with Spencer and Dermot on BBLB. :laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:

Some of the ads that are on later at night, such as the one where he is fantasising about Kate, are really distasteful.

As you all know I'm not very impressed with BB this year and if Avid Merrion is typical of the fan base, I'm not sure I want ot be known as a BB fan anymore.

Yes they do get worse in the evenings i don't know how they manage to get away with them sometimes, but he was good on bblb :laugh:

Where's your sense of humour, blimey if it's got to be serious and intellectual, all the time then I wouldnt want to be considered a fan neither. It's a mickey take of bb and I think it's about time as well, it's only a lousy game show after all.:shocked:

Ok, I'll admit that probably was a rather pompous and prattish thing of me to say! :laugh:

I know Avid is meant to be a take off of BB, and some of the things he does and says are funny - I'll even admit that he was funny on BBLB last night.

However, I think that more often than not his jokes are distasteful. I don't think I'm a prude but him talking abut sticking pictures up with his spittle turns my stomach, and the two late night adds involving Kate and Alex, rather than making me laugh, make me feel very uncomfortable indeed.

Oh well, I still find him funny, he is a Big Brother nutter, maybe at the end we'll see the men in white coats take him away, pop his blow up dolls, rescue majorie from the oven and release Craig.:dance::dance:

I have mixed feelings about this character. Sometimes he is amusing but sometimes I could cringe also.

He was amusing on BBLB (and only that) until he kept interupting when the phone in started. Very rude to the public that wanted to have there two pence worth and instead were interupted by some rude jerk trying to make a name for himself.

I am probably way out of line by saying what I am about to say.
He reminds me of that evil Leslie Neilson, who many years ago ( as you more senior posters will know ) ,kept boys locked up and eventually killed them.
I won't go into detail's of what he did to them.
When I saw Craig in the cupboard all I could think of was this evil man.
Sorry if i've offended anyone, but I detest him.
I think BB producers could have found a more suitable fan ( if that's what he is ) although as someone has already said he's probably just a nobody trying to make a name for himself.
I wish they would get him off.

I think he's quite funny, and on BBLB I loved Spencers reaction to him, like he didn't know what to make of him - made me laugh a lot!

I haven't seen the late night adverts with Kate and Alex - dare I ask? What are they?

I think Craig has definite comic potential actually, much more so than Avid - the bit where he's making him read why he should be on Big Brother, and he says something like "What am I Craig?"

"You're very warm" - the way Craig says that cracks me up every time! Am I mad??

Anyway, i don't watch E4 coverage that much, so i haven't seen the rest of the adverts, just that one.

Was the murderer not Des Neilsen?

Leslie Neilson is a former tough-guy actor who turned to comedy with huge success in Airplane, Police Squad and the Naked Gun movies. He also made a video called "Bad Golf My Way" which, as someone who cannot stand golf, I found hilarious!

I know it's bordering on creepy, and CERTAIN fellow posters have suggested that I verge on the Avid in my attitude to Paul Clarke................................
(the very thought of having him tied up under the stairs for my own personal amusement!!!! I am suddenly VERY warm myself!!:shocked::blush::blush::shocked:)

HOWEVER, it is funny!

I loved the Alex in the shower clip! He will so hate it when he comes out of the house!

I think that the ads on E4 are so funny as well especially the "I keep these all up with my spittle one"

Anyway, he's played by a guy called Leigh Francis. Avid Merrion featured in sketches on a show called Whatever I Want that was shown on ITV a couple of years ago. In them Avid talked about celebrities that he was obsessively waiting for to get their autograph.

Then he was on a programme called Show Me the Funny on E4 where he actually started to stalk real celebrities and give them strange presents.

Well, yes, I did guess!

I thought the N0 1 fan he visited on tonights BBLB was tame.

Where was his fully alphabetised and catalogued media library? The BB curtains and duvet cover?
Where was his shrine to Paul Clarke, with it's own little eternal flame flickering like a beacon in the darkness that is BB3?

I mean EVERYONE has at least that much, don't they???
