Leaking Embarogs

What can happen if I leak an embargo, and what happened to the guy who leaked the BB10 pictures?

EDIT: Sorry, just realised this may be slightly off topic. Sorry again.

President 30-12-2009 03:00 PM

In theory, you could be sued :).

Captain.Remy 30-12-2009 03:00 PM

We've never heard of him anymore. He's missing since.

Would C4 do that though, for just a few pictures?

Stu 30-12-2009 03:03 PM

It's horrible. They break in at night and take you away in a black bag and take you to a remote location where they force you to provide feedback for their 'fresh, exciting new content'.

And Alexa Chung gets to spit in your mouth. Which could be pretty damn pleasurable, depending on your level of perversion.

Not sure. :conf:

They could track you down by asking TiBB for your IP address details etc.

Sawyer 30-12-2009 03:04 PM

Should I be worried for leaking those pictures yesterday? Because apparently C4 are furious?

Stu 30-12-2009 03:05 PM

They probably won't do anything, but lock your door just incase.

You definitely should. They have the power, they're behind a whole conspiracy against us, the public, to manipulate us.

Yes you should be very worried. You were warned not to leak them.

Channel 4 are indeed very furious. That's why they were forced to release the pictures early on their website after seeing the leaks.

You could potentially be sued for thousands of £, maybe even go to jail :).

Stu 30-12-2009 03:09 PM

Jon Snow is making his way up your driveway with a loaded handgun and some transcript sheets as we speak.

Be afraid.

Hmmm... 3 images... so you won't go to jail. Maybe a fine of £1000?

Are you just trying to scare me, or are you being serious?

What happened to the guy who leaked the BB10 pictures?

I just PMed you... you might be let off.

I'm not sure what happened to the person who leaked the BB10 photos. Never been heard of again...

Patrick 30-12-2009 03:14 PM

LMAO

Imagine it now 'Matthew im arresting you on leaking 3 Pictures of the new Big Brother house, you have the right to remain silent, Im coming to get you!'

Seriously, though can they actually put him in jail and sue him ? :joker:

I find that hilarious.

*Day 4 in Matthews Cell*
Matthew: So what are you in for?
Hard Man: Raped a girl, Robbed a bank and stole a car, you?
Matthew: I leaked a few pictures of the Big Brother House :(

Oh well if Channel 4 are furious, at least it means TiBB got noticed and hopefully they`ll look about here from now on for our ideas on twists and tasks.

Well it serves them right, I think TiBB leaking the pictures was a great way to slap them in the face for axing the show.

LaLaLand 30-12-2009 03:14 PM

They hire Tiffany "New York" Pollard to whoop yo' a$$.

Callum 30-12-2009 03:21 PM

Yeah I'd be very worried if I were you.

MarkWaldorf 30-12-2009 03:25 PM

Why are ya'll scaring him? As if C4 care enough about Big Brother to be bothered by it.

Thank you for that! :)

tmx 30-12-2009 03:39 PM

Nothing.

Embargo's carry no legal weight whatsoever, they are gentlemen's agreements.

The only thing they can really do is not let you have any more information in the future. They could possibly try and sue you for breaking a contract IF you agreed with C4 not to publish them, but if you got them from another website and not from C4 via their press site then that doesn't apply.

Jimmi5bellies 30-12-2009 03:41 PM

Its bad for TiBB, so why risk it?

Joe. 30-12-2009 04:16 PM

Embargo? What's that?

It's about holding back information now to get more information in the future. The internet has changed how effective they are really, but the press would for example respect an embargo in order to get information from BB over the next few weeks and some sort of contact with contestants when they leave the house.

It's all a balancing act though - usually information embargoed isn't really that juicy and it's not worth breaking it for the sake of breaking it. It's the information they don't give you officially they're more worried about.

I don't see how, for there to be a valid contract both parties must give consideration (ie, anything sufficient, it must be tangiable - it cannot be nothing). Channel 4 gave the photos, what does the other person give in return? A promise? That is not valid consideration. - If there is no contract, there can be no breach.

tmx 30-12-2009 06:27 PM

That's why I said they could "possibly try" and sue, it'd probably get chucked out of court if they tried

At the end of the day I doubt channel4 care at all about a handful of photos leaked a couple of hours before hand

AliAbdul 30-12-2009 06:29 PM

The Big Brother eye was embargoed until midnight but C4 still released it early, as did IBB and Bbspy, so I'm not to sure why everyone is suddenly getting so uptight about the house pictures

Tellymix 31-12-2009 01:36 PM

Nothing will happen if you leak an embargoed news story. No-one will get sued over some Big Brother pictures! People who say that are just trying to scare the OP.

You can bet that the names and pictures of the housemates will be leaked before the launch :D!
