Oh dear, and today you're playing the CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE away, too.

Nero 20-08-2005 03:49 PM

my mate plays for southampton..who are currently winning one nil...he came on for Kenwyn Jones in the 70th min I think...

Red Moon 20-08-2005 05:12 PM

Well Southend managed another draw this time against Hudderfield. So we move up one place to 10th. Not a bad start considering we enter the division via the play offs.

Siouxsie 20-08-2005 09:51 PM

Siouxsie 21-08-2005 05:04 PM

whats wrong with sunderland ?

CharlotteSometimes 21-08-2005 05:46 PM

Very little, when they're prepared to lie down and give us three points so effortlessly. A result in double figures would've been more than fair, but the fact that our lads left the pitch at full time injury free (bar Stevie G) against such a dirty team was okay, too.

cc100 21-08-2005 06:35 PM

My team, Birmingham have got off to a bad start.

I think we could get into a relegation scrap.

CharlotteSometimes 22-08-2005 06:28 PM

Any Aston Villa fans here? It seems we've finally accepted their £6.5 million bid for Milan Baros, and he's agreed terms on a deal with a medical due tomorrow (little git - Lyon offered £8 million). The rest of the Premiership must be petrified at the thought of Michael Owen returning to us right now, and it would be fantastic to see him home again, with one of the best midfields in the country behind him. But Benitez mentioned Feyenoord's Dirk Kuyt again today, and admitted he was interested in him. Unless we're going to offload Cisse (who's now cup-tied for Europe) to one of the interested French clubs, then we can't afford two strikers in the £10 million + bracket. We need Owen, the best striker the Premiership has ever seen (other than GOD, a.k.a. Robbie Fowler), back at Anfield where he belongs.

jrc 23-08-2005 03:58 PM

Agreed Charlotte. Imagine a strike force of Owen, Morientes and Cisse!

CharlotteSometimes 24-08-2005 11:06 AM

Judging from last night's performance, it wouldn't be very formidable. Morientes was extremely poor, and Cisse not much better. Owen said yesterday that he wants to come back to Anfield, and that if not he'd go to Newcastle, but only on a one year loan. But Newcastle want him to sign on a permanent deal. I don't know why we haven't asked for him on loan, at least.

On my way home from the match last night, I heard Benitez interviewed on local radio. They asked him straight out about Michael Owen, and said 'Will you be making a bid?' He just replied 'We have 6 good strikers here.' I don't agree with the 6 part at all, but at least he didn't say no. And there's still a week until the transfer deadline, too. :bouncy:

True Charlotte. Losing 1-0 at home isn't exactly the plan, but at least we got to the group stages. :spin:

Let's be honest - Michael Owen is (arguably) one of the top ten strikers in world. He doesn't want anything more than a one year loan deal with Newcastle, and they're his third choice ... of three. He's only even considering a loan deal with them in the first place because he wants to guarantee his England place for the World Cup next year. But I can't see him taking such a huge step down in his career. He won't be winning any silverware in a Newcastle shirt.

Siouxsie 25-08-2005 01:56 PM

he wont maybe he should wear a red and white one S.A.F.C.

CharlotteSometimes 25-08-2005 04:47 PM

You've already got Anthony Le Tallec on loan - what more do you want?

CharlotteSometimes 25-08-2005 04:48 PM

Congratulations to Stevie Gerrard - voted UEFA's most valuable player, 2004 - 2005 earlier today! :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy: :bouncy:
