Would you marry a smoker?

Would you marry a smelly, filthy smoker & inflict stinking cigarette smoke on your children?

no

the same way I would not marry someone who stunk of BO or watched EastEnders.

WOMBAI 09-03-2010 10:03 AM

Personally - no. It would be a big no, no for me!

Enid 09-03-2010 11:00 AM

If they smoked 20 a day, then no, but if it was a lot less than that, then I could probably accept that as long as I didn't have to breathe it in.

Claymores 09-03-2010 11:01 AM

I'm giving up cigarettes at the moment - if you like partner, do not underestimate the addiction which is more pernicious than herion Presumably you never got together with a smelly smoker?

Niamh. 09-03-2010 11:01 AM

Yes but then I am a smoker. Miraculously, I managed to find a man to marry me!

this.
my current bf used to smoke, especially when drunk. he gave up over a year ago and now only has the odd cigar or cigarette when drunk.

i'm fairly anti-smoking if i'm honest, i can't stand it.
i find it a huge turn off, so i couldn't get with anyone who smoked like a train, let alone marry one.

\PJ/ 09-03-2010 11:07 AM

It depends,if there love smoking so much it stops you doing things then they will be married to the habbit and not you.

It's a weird one for me. I'm anti-smoking too. Hate the smell, hate the taste, but it turns me on, lol. I love seeing a sexy man or woman smoke.

e-cig? like the inhaler thingys? 4 weeks is about the longest I ever managed, It just seemed to get harder rather than easier!

E-cig is better than inhaler thing.......it looks like cig with something to play with in hand, but when inhale, the battery ignites the vaporiser, which gives a water vapour (not smoke) to lungs with nicotine hit.

It has no smell unlike cigs so used to use this when I went to non-smokers' houses instead of standing outside for one. Now I trying to quit using this full time instead of silly nicotice elastoplasts

Tom4784 09-03-2010 11:44 AM

If I liked someone enough to marry them then I doubt smoking would impact that really.

I never heard of them, but the inhalers were the only thing that kept me going when I did try to give up. That sounds like the thing to try for me so the next time I give it a shot

I'm doing fine Niam - except when out on the booze @ weekends and have taken 1 or 2 real fags outside pub from pals.

Oh yeah, Will power almost disappears when you have a drink! They go together so well! Best of luck with it anyway, I know it's so hard

Good girl - I didn't have cig until 19 (many moons ago!) - at time in 1980s I was about one of the blokes who didn't smoke. My ex and her pals all did and we'd go out in 4-some to night out and she'd make me smoke with the other couple!!!!!

Plan was only to ever do this at weekends but here I am many years later trying to give-up!

Yeah I know what you mean, she only knew I was asking cos I was drunk and people do that. She didn't really like it herself. I was never one to give into the peer pressure of smoking and that. It does not really agree with me tbh, just makes me feel sick and want to gip, especially with weed. I'm more of a drinker lol

karezza 09-03-2010 12:12 PM

How could anyone marry someone who coughs and spits constantly, who would deprive their children of food in order to buy cigarettes.

Well I don't want children so I guess that wouldn't matter to me. :)

G
o spot some more Jumbos or defrost us an Iceland pizza - what would the Church Committee have to say Gavin?

Iceman 09-03-2010 01:04 PM

ye of course i would, in fact i reckon i might just blow smoke in the kids faces all day long.......this is a joke to be honest.......

Ramsay 09-03-2010 01:08 PM

Yeah
if i like them enough why would if they smoke make a difference

WOMBAI 09-03-2010 01:16 PM

Because for a non-smoker - the stink of an old ashtray is very unpleasant! To put up with that 24/7 would be too much! Not to mention any associated health risks - if that person is going to want to be smoking around you!

Yes and Smoke even stains CD cases.
Smokers are wrong to smoke near non smokers.

Vicky. 09-03-2010 01:24 PM

I smoke, so yeah...no problem.

And I would never deprive my kids of food so I could buy cigarettes

I deal on occassions with items that have spent many years in the homes of smokers and they have a thick layer of yellow tar on them that is hard to clean off (clocks, paintings). One can only imagine what the lungs looked like if this was smoke that had been inhaled, blown out into a much larger area and then settled on a surface.

Smokers live in a fantasy world
