Heroin
It's an awful drug. After watching a drama on BBC last week 'Five Daughters' - most of the girls were heavy heroin users, it's been playing on my mind all week. I think it's the worst drug personally, I would hate to be addicted to it. But I know that a lot of people are, it's not an uncommon thing.
I really don't understand the concept of it neither. All I know is that it's injected into the body. Is there any other ways to take heroin apart from injecting and how do you buy heroin? :conf: It confuses me, with cocaine and some other drugs - I know it's given as a white powder form - which heroin isn't. Not a nice topic I know but I was reading on a news website the other day that heroin users are increasing in the UK which is a sad fact. Bit of a alarming question but has anyone on here ever took or been addicted to heroin or know anyone who has been? |
OMG how ironic, my drama coach was telling me about the same show haha!
|
I think you can smoke it too. Like cocaine. Thankfully my knowledge is limited.

I thought (although Im probably wrong) you heated the solid form until it became liquid then injected it

LOL I have no real idea I'm afraid Might be worth a Google. |
People often start with smoking it 'Chasing the dragon' then for a bigger hit go to injecting. If you carry on with heavy use you will probably come addicted in about 6 months, and basically once you're hooked you're fucked. Although methadone is a lot harder to come off than heroin.

Yeah I read smoking it does less damage for you or something but a lot choose to inject as get more from it. |

No offense intended but how do you know all of this - have you been involved with heroin yourself? |
It looks like a brownish powder in one of its forms, there is also black tar heroin, you heat it and it melts into a liquid, you then pour it into a syringe and inject it. Also you can put it on a spoon/tinfoil and put a flame under it, inhale the smoke as in smoking. It smells kinda spicy.
Horrible drug. |

I do feel for some users though who have got involved through falling in with wrong crowd etc. because they didn't choose that lifestyle. There needs to be more support for users in my opinion. |

I suppose growing up here has educated me really. I wouldn't even touch a glass of alcohol or smoke a fag. |

Like I said, more support needs to be provided. A lot of drug users tend to be involved with crime and prostitution as well which is even more sad. The key to less crime although of course not entirely is to sort out Britain's ever growing drug problem. But saying that at least we don't have the problem of prescription drugs addiction over here. In the States, it's always been a big thing. It still does happen here but to a much less extent. |

But to be from an area where lots of people smoke/drink etc. and not want to do both because of it - that is so much more of an achievement. |

Watch Trainspotting Callum
As part of my 1st degree, the thesis was about the impact of health rehabilitation clinics and government health campaigns. I centred it on exactly the part of Edinburgh that the book and movie were based upon. I soon learned the futility of the folks' situations and why heroin became an almost logical choice when no prospect of employment, no hopes and sod-all to do all day. Trainspotting tries in it's way to depict the dire situation and hopelessness. |

After a serious operation I was given the medical version of heroin (it's called diamorphine). It just makes you feel sleepy and takes the cares away.
After 3 days the medics stop it as it can become so quicky addictive. I have to admit, ven after 3 days, I was upset when they stopped mainlining me as had to come back into the real world. When I was bored in hospital bed, even when in little pain I'd get them to diamorph me to pass the time/tedium |
Ian have you seen that herion doc with the Scottish bloke in? Where he tries some weird African drug to stop it altogether. Also Black Tar Heroin: Dark End Of The Street is one of the most depressing things i've ever watched

Heroin abuse says as much about your mental and social state than anything
