Molly Dobbs AXED

Actress Vicky Binns is to leave Coronation Street later this year as the Molly, Kevin, Tyrone love triangle takes another dramatic turn.

However, we're keeping details of the next twist in this storyline strictly under wraps!

Vicky, who plays Molly, said: “It’s been a joy to be involved in such a fantastic storyline and it is only right that it has the explosive ending viewers are waiting for. I am very excited about playing out the rest of this plot and indeed about what the future holds. I've had an amazing time in the show and feel it's right to leave on such a high.”

Ever since she started her affair with Kevin, Molly has been torn between her lover and her husband.

Kevin and Molly’s plans to leave their spouses were scuppered on Christmas Day when Sally revealed to a stunned Kevin that she was suffering from breast cancer.

Molly still left Tyrone, but just weeks later discovered she was pregnant and, unsure of whether Kevin or Tyrone was the father and facing the future as single mum, she went back to an unsuspecting Tyrone.

Now with the baby due in the early Autumn, more shocks are planned!

Our producer, Phil Collinson, said: “This storyline has been central to the drama of the show for a year now and I hope that the many different twists and turns we have planned will keep the fans on the edge of their seats for months to come.

“Vicky is a superb actress who has helped to make the Molly, Kevin, Tyrone love triangle one of the most talked about soap storylines of the year. We wish her every success for the future.”

Iceman 06-05-2010 05:14 PM

Mrluvaluva 06-05-2010 05:20 PM

There is a god.

BigSister 06-05-2010 05:44 PM

Yay hoping Kevin sends her packling or ty sees the lights

Smithy 06-05-2010 05:46 PM

:O

It'll be a shame she's going as she's quite a good actress, but on the otherhand the fact that this storyline is going to be finally over will be a plus.

Yes Molvin sucks:hugesmile:.

I would be over the moon if Sean and Michelle ever left but both actors are loved by the producers so no chance:(.

Result!!!!!!!

Billy 06-05-2010 08:28 PM

Vicky Binns is physically carrying the storyline. Both Tyrone and Kevin are utter numpties lmao. Oh and she quit, she wasn't axed.

Scarlett. 06-05-2010 08:31 PM

She was axed, you really believe she quit? Phil will have reviewed her worth to the show, like he has done with all, and her and Phil will have decided she's done all she can

Billy 06-05-2010 08:34 PM

Erm actually, she quit.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s3...on-street.html

"Coronation Street actress Vicky Binns quits the soap as Molly Dobbs after five years in the role."

If she had been axed, it would have been said to be axed or agreed by producers.

Mrluvaluva 06-05-2010 08:39 PM

Personally I thought she could not act to save her life. Apart from fluttering her eyelashes, pouting, and plenty of bosom heaving she did not seem to do much else. Onwards to Hollywood for the new installment of Bride of Chucky.

Scarlett. 06-05-2010 08:40 PM

I don't think ITV.com would say

"lol we just axed Vicky Binns"

either way, she is leaving, and a lot of people are happy

Billy 06-05-2010 08:41 PM

Digital Spy would. They've said it numerous times before, they certainly wouldn't say "quit" if she hadn't though

IDRC. I am just happy she has going. They need to get some new interesting characters in.

Kerry 06-05-2010 08:45 PM

I saw the guy who plays Aaron in Emmerdale do an impression of Kevin Webster today. It was uncanny and very funny :D

Hello Kerry. What programme was that on?

Scarlett. 06-05-2010 08:49 PM

tbh, I hope they dont replace the axed characters, the cast needs to be smaller, especially with the Armstrongs (aka the Butterfields) arriving soon

There are quite a few that have been axed though, and Blanche has gone, and I think some of the newer characters are pretty poor. For example, Trevor does not seem to have any good story lines and is a bit of a fail imo. The Lewis and Audrey storyline is getting pretty boring atm also. I am glad to see Graeme is getting a bit more airtime. Of course the whole Tracey storyline is coming up but I feel a few more stronger characters are needed. It is sometimes weak in it's content and it seems to flit around from characters too much. One week somebody might be featured, and then you don't see them for another few weeks. Take Sophie and Sian for instance. It needs more continuity and a better injection of new blood.

And who are The Armstrongs?

Jackie 08-05-2010 02:19 PM

It would have been nice to know how she and kevin got on after the baby arrives.

There are far more boring characters on CS than Molly! Seems to me that many members on this forum simply don't like cheating women - even the fictional kind! Whereas, cheating men - doesn't bother them at all!

Tom4784 08-05-2010 04:28 PM

It's a shame, the Kevin storyline really ruined her character.

Oh Wombai, good timing! I got you a new record right here since yours seems to be broken.

Kirk's gf's family :)

and Wombai, we dont mind Kevin cheating as much, because he turned a blind eye when Sally was having an affair with Mr. Car Showroom, and because he ended the affair when he found out his wife needed him, whereas Molly didnt give two ****s about Sally

The truth can't be broken - just conveniently ignored!

If you want to talk about sexism in soaps Wombai....

1) Men are made out to be one of the following three
a) useless lazy idiots
b) villians
c) a cheating bastard

2) Women seem to be allowed to hit men in soaps without anyone batting an eyelid

I think there is sterotyping on both sides - and I don't like that!

But in a way, you prove my point - because male characters are portrayed as cheating more, partly, at least, as historically they have, but it rarely seems to have met with the same levels of disapproval and contempt that happens when a female character cheats!

Which is most likely because they portray males as cheating more often, to be honest, cheating is a terrible thing and whoever does it, man or woman, they are complete knobheads
