Simon had to support his own group, I understand that. he was sure Louis would keep Maria in.

Louis Walsh knows that he put through the weaker act.

Apart from Louis just supporting the Irish act, it's also possible they wanted a controversial week to get the ratings movings.

It's unfair, she had a bad song, but she didn't deserve to go, I wish Chico would go, I hate him so much. I like the conways but not as much as Shayne or Brenda, Maria was my favourite.

I thought she was bl00dy fantastic tonight, and I reckon folk didn't vote for her because she is so good every week, and the public figured she was safe anyway. I don't think song choice even entered into it.

As for Louis Walsh. Point me in the direction of the "hate Louis Walsh" club.. I'm joining! He is a disgrace, and he is making a mockery of the show. I don't even want to watch it next week.

And, did anyone catch what Sharon asked on The Xtra Factor? She said to Ben: "Does that mean that if anyone besides Louis acts are up against the conways they are out?"..

I said the exact same thing as Sharon about 5 minutes earlier. Luckily Mr.Cowell has said he will vote off his own act if it means not losing a more talented act.

I don't believe him though. Because, I genuinely don't believe that Simon thinks the Conways are more talented than Maria.

But, in his defence, he did say "from now on..", as though he realised he had made a huge mistake tonight.

Although, how he couldn't see Louis decision coming is beyond me. Everyone else could!

Absolutely shocking. I didn't think the Conways were that bad tonight - in fact I thought it was one of their best weeks - but they were not as good as Maria, and have not been on any week. I just can't understand what Louis was thinking. It gets ridiculous when people get knocked out of the show because of where they're from, or rivalry between the judges or something daft like that. Maria was one of the best acts on the show - a real talent has been lost.

I do think that she will probably get a recording contract anyway though, and do well in any event.

I missed the X Factor results last night as I had to go out. Are you serious? The 'King of Pop' picked the Conways over Maria?

I dont think that song choice was anything to do with Maria being in th bottom 2 last night, i think (like someone said) it was down to people thinking she was safe and not voting, and voting for the underdog (Chico) :mad:

Even though I like the Conways (look below) I would rather have them go than Maria, as Maria is obviously such a stronger act than the Conways!

However, I had already figured out that whoever went against the Conways in the final showdown (except Shayne and Nicholas) would go because i knew that Louis would save them, so when Maria went up against them i started cringing :shocked:

Bad decision in my book - but i think that Maria will get a recording contract defo :thumbs:

It was shocking! The vote was between Maria and the Conways obviously (even though neither of them deserved to be in the bottom two IMO), and naturally Simon and Sharon saved their own acts, and it came down to Louis to pick. I couldn't believe it when he said he was sending Maria home. Favouritism at its ugliest. Sharon came on stage with Maria and said it was a travesty - which was true - and that Louis had voted with his passport - also true.

Louis made it clear, with his decision, last night that he will vote to save The Conways Sisters over anyone else apart from his own acts.

That means that if the Conways find themselves in the bottom two with Andy, Brenda or Chico it will be the Conways that stay.

The Conways have got a big chance of getting to the final three or four now.

Why oh why is Louis so hell bent on keeping them in??? They have a small amount of talent but could never make it as recording artists!

Simon's fallen out with The Conways and I think he will vote them out when they are next in the bottom 2.

He knows them personally and has done since before the show began. He also knows their family, and is obviously incapable of being impartial. If he felt compromised, then (a) he shouldn't be doing the job of judging in the first place, and (b) he should have said that he couldn't pick between the two and gone to the public vote. I wouldn't normally say that it should go to the public vote, but it would have been better than having an obviously biased judge.

I don't think he had to - the winning act is signed to Simon's label, so it's in his own best interests to sacrifice his own act if necessary. He most certainly knew that Louis would save the Conway Sisters, too. I think Simon wants Shayne to win, as he has the most money-making potential.

I think it was 100% 'a passport decision'. And regardless of how they do on XF, there's still money to be made from them back in the Emerald Isle. Louis is every bit as likely to think with his wallet as Simon is.

It won't happen though, as he's said all along that the only XF act he'll ever sign will be the winner.
