Halfway through the series people, your thoughts on it.

What are you making of the series now that we are halfway, what has been your highlights of it so far?

Niamh. 16-07-2010 10:05 AM

hhhhmmmm, The HMs aren't the best at all. The only thing keeping me interested is the JJ/Josie relationship other than that, there isn't much happening. I think BB has really tried with the tasks etc this year and if they'd done that last year with the HMs they had, it could have been the best year ever.

Stu 16-07-2010 10:11 AM

It's shoite. The gaudy production has me thinking 'maybe they were right and I really ought to be watching something better'.

The house, as great as it was in the pictures, looks too over the top on TV. I actually rather BB's traditional cheap iPOD chique plastic. The tasks still revolve around ~whacky costume fun and are actually embarrasing to watch if anyone is in the room. The house is lacking in big personalities [even Ben is tame compared to previous alternative favourites like Rex and Marcus]. No worthwhile twist has actually happened yet. No substantial changes to the format have been made [snazzy video effects and soundtracking five minutes are not changing the format].

I could go on.

It sucks, really.

Beastie 16-07-2010 10:12 AM

It's not bad.. an allright series.. not the best.. not the worst. I prefer it to last year though.

DrunkerThanMoses 16-07-2010 10:12 AM

Not the best series, with crap housemates, which are over rated on here. But I think its better then 4, 8 and 9

yousoboo! 16-07-2010 10:13 AM

I'm really missing the Shabby dynamic. Still enjoying it though.

BB_Eye 16-07-2010 10:13 AM

A mediocre series with only the occasional entertaining HL show. Like last years series, it suffers from a case of BB8 syndrome, only far more severe.

Niamh. 16-07-2010 10:14 AM

I still hate seeing it go though and think maybe a new channel and fresh minds on it could work

yousoboo! 16-07-2010 10:18 AM

Too many pointless HMs in this series.

Getting Phil Edgar Jones on board again was a mistake. He has a consistent record of incompetence for helming Big Brother's production team.

Ey. If only he chose me to go through when I auditioned. You could have another entertaining hm in there ;)

Yeah I feel the same! JJ/Josie is the only reason I keep watching, and also Ben sometimes.

I cant believe the 3 new housemates they put in, Surely out of the Whole UK they could find a better 3!!!!!

It is pretty good, but is lacking in real wtf classic moments, which is mainly down to the lack of booze.

This dry house policy is pathetic.

Zippy 16-07-2010 10:24 AM

Not the great final series we deserve. As its moments but too much deadwood in the cast.

Couldve been so much better. But the producers don't seem to want explosive action and have chosen a low impact bunch. Bet they didnt bank on JJ being a nutjob either.

6/10.

This is why I think a whole new channel and team and maybe change a few rules etc might benefit the programme, like this is why Simon Cowells shows always last and stay popular imo I mean X-Factor is basically Pop Idol.Pop stars the rivals etc but he just changed things around abit and it's still as popular as ever after nearly 10 years

Beastie 16-07-2010 10:25 AM

BB needs to give them more booze.

I don't mind it being a long 13 week series.. but maybe it should be shorter?? or well they do needs more tasks, twists, manipulation and BOOZE. Maybe have more of the BBUSA into the BBUK with the amount of tasks and twists they have. Turn it more into a gameshow type thing.

I dont know why they're holding back on the booze this year:conf: All the funniest stuff happens after booze:joker:

arsenalforever 16-07-2010 10:32 AM

without ben and JJ in this show it would be in BB4 and BB8 terrioty

it hasn't been the best hasn't been the worse it would be sixth in my fav BB's of all time.

Kore 16-07-2010 10:33 AM

Niam, how about we pick the housemates for any future BB Series (whatever channel it may be on). It'll be bigger than celeb get me outta here/x factor/world cup final.. combined!...lol

you can't feed them booze all the time
only Ben and JJ have been at least giving us something worth watching with their bitchness and funny behaviour

Simone. 16-07-2010 10:33 AM

Is it seriously halfway through.

I think it's been good, but we really need drunken truth or dare or a drunken fight, basically they need alcohol, they're never ever drunk! :)

I wouldn't go so far as to advocate a complete format change. The basic premise of the show is fine as it is and there was no need for the introduction of X-Factor style frenetic, montage-driven super-editing. Even within the rudiments of Ofcom's draconian rules, a better selection housemates and some halfway-decent tasks would have gone a long way.

not all the time but a few nights a week atleast! and yeah if not for JJ and Ben it would seriously dull

arsenalforever 16-07-2010 10:38 AM

there's too many dullards this year its crazy andrew rachel ife nathan Mario steve corin thats too many really

headaball 16-07-2010 10:38 AM

Pretty average although I think it's been a bit better since the new housemates entered.

haha that would be amazing! I think we need to do tasks like BB USA do, and Interact more with other BB's around the world (like the german footie task this year). Swap housemates etc...

I just think they need a big shake up to get people interested in it again. I mean us forum members are loyal to it but in general the ratings have plummeted and they need something different to entice people back to watching it. I remember last year reading peoples idea for twists and tasks, and some of them were so good, maybe they should read the forums more and steal some ideas!

nah sadly the new hm's have been very meh
i taught keeley would have been just acting the bitch with them all insulting and feeding false information to them but she's just stuck to steve really

rachel and andrew sem to have offered nothing really

Arse, no one said all the time.

We are talking about the larger picture, not individual HMs, but as you mention it... Ben hasnt been interesting in the last 2 weeks- he has 100% done a Mario (seemed funny and interesting when given solo tasks and the camera time, but become wallpaper when left to his own devices). I could also go on about how Josie has consistently delivered.

But, lets not turn this into a HM vs HM thread...

I think it's pretty undeniable that the lack of booze has impacted on the drama/ fun.

Speaking of booze nights, anyone know where you can watch the the fight night episode from BB5 online?
