MTV Rocks!?

None of this music is rock.
It really irritates me, they've had Vampire Weekend, Plan B & Florence and the Machine on, it's seriously just not rock.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Damaris 16-07-2010 10:50 AM

Yeah i noticed this! Plan B is about as 'rock' as Pink is. :/

BB_Eye 16-07-2010 10:52 AM

Lol, music channels.

Twilight 16-07-2010 10:55 AM

MTV Rocks sucks, best music channel is scuzz, imo.

MrGaryy 16-07-2010 11:01 AM

They also had All Time Low on this morning pmsl.

BB_Eye 16-07-2010 11:07 AM

Sonic Youth and other alternative rock bands used to be a bit of a fixture on MTV in the 80's. That would be unthinkable now.

InOne 16-07-2010 11:09 AM

Vh2 used to be the best chan for me. But of course they replaced it with silly stuff like this chan. Even Scuzz and Kerrang have lost their touch.

Chels 16-07-2010 11:14 AM

I actually have this on now lol. Paramore's on atm.

Chels 16-07-2010 11:15 AM

Scuzz is the worst music channel around D: it's all that awful screaming sh*t, it has a cheap look about it as well. Kerrang is quality though.

Stu 16-07-2010 11:16 AM

It's good when they do the alternative 80's stuff on the odd night, but apart from that it sucks like all music channels suck. YouTube makes music video channels totally redundant.

Kerrang also used to be pretty reliable, but it's turned into the emo/scene channel. All Time Low and their ilk don't belong on rock channels. It's now effectively a pop rock channel.

Scuzz is Kerrang's unwashed cousin.

aye, I remember when Kerrang played actual rock music. Now it is, like you said, the emo/scene channel.

Lmfao...Kerrang is a load of crap.
It plays the same stuff over and over again...Paramore...Fall Out Boy...All Time Low.

If I hear them stupid Weightless and Misery Business songs again I'll have to nuke them.

Scuzz is certainly not screaming anymore, it has normal metal/hard rock, such as Avenged Sevenfold.
Though it's losing its touch now, playing soft stuff like Lost Prophets and 30STM (I like them, but Scuzz is supposed to be Metal-type stuff)

I like some of the stuff on Kerrang, like the Offspring and Muse and stuff.

Not into metal personally, but everyone has their own taste. 30stm and Lostprophets are quality imo.

I feel a little bit sick when I find myself wondering onto Scuzz and being deathened.

Indeed :D

Jords 16-07-2010 11:46 AM

Nope cant remember lyrics, Ive only heard it the once a while back. The video had a lead singer whos quite a fat guy, and the screen sorts of flips into the really metal parts of the song.

lol 16-07-2010 11:47 AM

What colour was his skin?
If you mean flips as in a book, try My Curse by Killswitch Engage.
They're in a book which the pages are flicking in, and Howard (their singer) is kinda chubby I guess.

Mmm nahh i can't help you there :( was it like really heavy metal or just Post-hardcore?

lol 16-07-2010 11:50 AM

Also what did the lead singers hair look like, if you can remember?

Black and hes fatter than the guy in that video, and in the video it kinda fizzles into the metal parts, like switches into it, I cant remember the name of the band but it wasnt one I had heard of before (maybe not popular). And I dont really know the difference Twi.

InOne 16-07-2010 11:53 AM

Maybe Korn?

BB_Eye 16-07-2010 11:53 AM

I can't believe all this greaseball post-grunge music (and that includes screamo/emo whatever you want to call it) is still so popular. It's incredibly dated.

lol 16-07-2010 11:53 AM

I'll try find metal bands with black singers.
Do you remember what other band members looked like?

Twilight 16-07-2010 11:53 AM

Post-hardcore is where they sing in some parts and scream in the other parts :)

lol 16-07-2010 11:54 AM

He's not black and he's certainly not fat. :P

Why are you so defensive may I ask?

lol 16-07-2010 11:55 AM

Could be metalcore aswell, as that's a fusion of heavy and soft metal.
Metalcore tends to have a few breakdowns aswell, did you hear any?
